Part of the problem is that most people assume that it is okay to post spoilers in skyrim general because that is where the only place to discuss it until recently.... and some people don't understand spoiler.

Yes... and regardless I think I'll be staying away from the Skyrim section. A certain specific spoiler that shall not be named which was revealed today and posted as the headline for many threads (which I would beg the moderators to delete entirely rather than just lock) was just irritating. I can never retrieve my former state of not knowing and thus the surprise is ruined for me. Although, I understand the unimaginable strain it would put on the moderators and so I'm not quite sure if that's even a good idea even though I would think, for containing spoilers, it's a good idea.

It wouldn't really help against determined trolls. A "smart" (using the term very loosely here) troll would simply come here to spam spoilers until they're banned, or go to another TES forum, or hell, any other forum on this site. Having the mods hand-approve every single topic that goes through this site's many, MANY subforums just isn't feasible.

These guys are already posting spoilers from leaked copies of the game. Do you really think they care about keeping topics to the appropriate forum? (one such troll has already posted in this topic, but thankfully the post was deleted very quickly)

I suppose not... and I can't imagine if they started infesting the CD, instead. I can't just quit these forums entirely for the first two months I have Skyrim, so I need this place clean. Well, then, I don't know. I guess staying out of the Skyrim section if you actually care about experiencing Skyrim for yourself is the best and only course of action for any of us to take if we wish to avoid the leaked details. I really wish I could get that one big spoiler I saw out of my mind. It surprised me to see such a thing in the headline itself of a few of the threads even though I knew people would post spoilers there, anyway.

What you guys have to remember is that the mods do all this in their spare time. Making them individually approve every individual topic in the Skyrim forum (which will be exceedingly busy for the next couple months) on top of moderating the other forums would cause far far more problems than good.

I'll just be avoiding the Skyrim forums like the plague for a while.

This.

And if there was a delay for approval, then they'd also have to deal with all the "why didn't you appproooove myyyy possttttt" PM's or something, on top of it. ;)

If you don't want to be accidentally spoiled (major or minor), sadly, one must avoid most forums. Find a small group of people that are of like mind and discuss the game with them instead of the general mass public, at least initially.

Does the community discussion section count? :P

This is a terrible idea.

Far too many threads are made for the mods to approve them all. Thye only have a limited amount of time, everytime they logged in there would be 100 threads or more to approve. Then there would just be a huge amount of threads and nearly all would never be on the first let alone second page. So tehy would go unused.

If you come on here, expect to see a few spoilers when you dont want to. But dont get mad at Mods, who ARE NOT PAID!!!! for all the hard work they do and all the [censored] they deal with.

They get free games... which are then spoiled before they get to play them since they have to move the spoilers to the dead zone.

But I think we should all just relax a little bit. If you're that worried about spoilers ruining your gaming experience, then stop coming to the forum for a while. Or, if you simply MUST come to the forum, just don't look at page 1 of topics. Just look at page 2 and beyond. You know spoilers won't make it to page 2. And if you want to be sure to respond to threads you've responded to, just be sure to watch them. Problem solved.

Better yet if a thread is going to based on a movie you haven't seen or a game you haven't played---just don't go to that thread.

Too much hassle. I don't want that. They do a fine enough job keeping this place in order. It is only a handful of people who "disobey the rules" anyways. Most of the time they are new and usually sorry, only a select few do it to "troll".

Makes sense. Those of us that have been here for years are a lot less likely to commit spoilers than someone that just joined.

Darth Vader is Luke skywalkers father!

Well that just disproves that theory doesn't it? :P
