Lots of forums do it, and especially with the 360 version leaked, they really should if possible.

I came on here for 2 minutes and already some [censored] posted a spoiler in the headline. Mods need to do something and fast.

I don't even know if this is possible. All I know is I don't have the willpower to go dark for over a week without getting my TES fix here.

I personally wouldn't mind if my new topics were delayed a few hours until a mod has time to approve it.

I completely agree, wish they had that kind of control. Some people just don't seem to get it, or maybe they just don't care about spoiling things for others.

A few hours ? This forum would get boring without the constant new threads coming through

Good idea in theory, though in practice it would probably cause a lot of issues for the mods by forcing a huge amount of posts and topics into a rapidly expanding queue.

You know what's funny? I would never have guessed that [SPOILER RELATED INFO THAT KEEPS GETTING POSTED HERE] was actually a spoiler until I saw people post "THIS THREAD BELONGS IN SPOILERS FORUM, OMGFAG." Streisand Effect FTL.

Could use the search function and bump older topics about the exact same thing that you were going to post. :P

I love the idea, but they would need two mods doing that full time! Worth it? Probably.

There are times where it takes them a while to lock just one thread. How the hell do you think they'll cope with the amount of threads being made every 20 minutes?

I suggested this a few hours ago and asked a mod. He said it'd be too much work. :(

Okay, I voted no because, in this current state, restricting the massive influx of new, non-spoiler threads would be prohibitive.

I'm 99% sure they wouldn't accept my Star Wars themed threads, so no.

It would certainly help with topic title spoilers, but the really malicious users would just post spoilers in existing threads instead.

Does this have anything to do with Skyrim?

I swear if I were to have an official forum for a product that could be spoiled, I'd make it only accessible if you had a rootkit plugin capable of deleting your hard drive.

Play by the rules, or ELSE. :chaos:

I can understand people getting upset about spoilers, but I really think we should all loosen up a little. I know we're all starting to get a little crazy with anticipation, and spoilers are an awful tease that just causes frustration. Believe me, I'm with you.

But I think we should all just relax a little bit. If you're that worried about spoilers ruining your gaming experience, then stop coming to the forum for a while. Or, if you simply MUST come to the forum, just don't look at page 1 of topics. Just look at page 2 and beyond. You know spoilers won't make it to page 2. And if you want to be sure to respond to threads you've responded to, just be sure to watch them. Problem solved.

If the posters just use their brains, and start the topic in the right section everything should be fine, yes?

That's charitable. Most people that bother to post spoilers are not at all interested in relaying information, they are interested in some lame ego thrill of being "first" or more likely, simply interested in ruining someone else's experience. Pathetic, really.

No, only in that having done moderation work that would be a huge headache. The moderators are doing an excellent job of keeping this site functional during one of if not the most anticipated game launch in the last 5 years. Props to the mods.

What you guys have to remember is that the mods do all this in their spare time. Making them individually approve every individual topic in the Skyrim forum (which will be exceedingly busy for the next couple months) on top of moderating the other forums would cause far far more problems than good.

I'll just be avoiding the Skyrim forums like the plague for a while.

The spoilers getting posted in the forum are in the form of "OMG, are [blank] really in?" I get the feeling they have no idea that they're really posting a spoiler.

And that boys and girls, is why I'm avoiding the Skyrim forums and any Skyrim-related media until I actually get the game. People on the internet are knobs, and if a 13 year old is able to post spoilers to get kicks, they will. Better to just not read the forums and therefore my experience isnt ruined :)

A more radical solution would be for the mods to take a leaf out of Qantas' book. If they simply closed all forums, we'd have no problem :D

Yes... and regardless I think I'll be staying away from the Skyrim section. A certain specific spoiler that shall not be named which was revealed today and posted as the headline for many threads (which I would beg the moderators to delete entirely rather than just lock) was just irritating. I can never retrieve my former state of not knowing and thus the surprise is ruined for me. Although, I understand the unimaginable strain it would put on the moderators and so I'm not quite sure if that's even a good idea even though I would think, for containing spoilers, it's a good idea.
