Possible way to improve the image quality.

I am a fan of id games. The rage is an amazing game with huge scenes, and the lighting environment is pretty nice, the rocks look quite unique.
When I playing the game, even I tweak the vars parameters in the game to 16k,
the sand bag looks still blurry when approach nearly. I did some reverse h nearly,I guess the reason is the whole scene is pretty big,it cann;t afford to high resolution textures everywhere.
So I did some experiment(I happened to be a programmer),added a detailmap the scene objects. But something need declare at first,I did some reverse engineering, but I am just a normal programmer,I don;t want get trouble from it. I am not sure it is the right place to post the thread, and I don;t want to get any letter from the lawyer. There is nothing significance here,I post it here just to remind you maybe there is a simple way to improve the image quality.

This is excellent, can you do a before/after screenshots of one of many portraits hanging on the walls?

Rage has great graphics, but only from afar, upclose to any surface it looks like a 6 year old game(which is how old the consoles are, go figure... )

Also whatever you did can you put it in http://donotargue.com/cfg-makers/rage/?

And let us remember that Crysis 2 also had poor textures because it was made for consoles http://www.gametrailers.com/video/directx11-pc-crysis-2/716871.

It really pisses me off that consoles keep downgrading games and holding us in time stasis.

Id have already talked about releasing some detail textures to enhance the look just as you've done Tony. This came after they claim there was no improvement using the HD textures of the HD Texture Pack they said they were going to release, which sounded to me like a lie to avoid the logistic nightmare of releasing an HD pack upwards 50GB. Not surprised you beat them to it, and even their detail textures would no doubt be larger files too.

I don't understand why it would be so difficult to release a patch for better textures for PC users. That doesn't mean it wouldn't be difficult, just that I don't see why. They already have all of the source textures, they would just have to compress the files they already have at a different resolution. It would take time, of course, but presumably only a day or two for one internist.

Can someone explain why it would be so difficult? Is a 40 gig "patch" via Steam really handled any differently than a 4 meg patch?

ID got rid of all the High Resolution textures and only kept these low resolution ones. I remember reading that somewhere.

I use the MaLDo HD Texture pack and a couple other mods and I can tell you Crysis 2 looks incredible.
