And I'm also not a fan of the 'Boo every opposing captain by default' strategy. Sure, if you have a beef against the captain for a real reason, go ahead and boo him, but don't just boo him for the sake of it.

Indeed. I still don't expect them to make the playoffs, but I do like what I see. The fans... energetic yes but quite arrogant unfortunately. Every call against us is a "bad call" and everyone always try's to chant the goalies name to throw him off. I've seen other NHL hockey before, and I can safely say I've never seen a stupider crowd before.

If I were actually over there in the 'peg I'd probably not have noticed this, would have been too in a drunk frenzy over getting an NHL team back, but I definitely see your point. :)

About the discussion of booing, I've always enjoyed boobirds, because as supposedly immature as it sounds, it denotes passionate fans. As someone who frequently watches Red Wing games, there's nothing more deflating than seeing on TV an arena full of largely passive/apathetic fans like those that show up at the Joe Louis Arena.

The biggest booing in recent memory I can think of that, while not making much sense, I enjoyed, was the Rob Blake boobirds in Los Angeles, Brad Marchand boobirds in Montreal, Sergei Fedorov boobirds in Detroit, Todd Bertuzzi's boobirds at Colorado and Vancouver, Sidney Crosby's boobirds in Philly, PK Subban's boobirds also in Philly, Daniel Alfredsson's boobirds in Toronto, Chris Pronger's boobirds in Edmonton (and other places), Paul Kariya's/Teemu Selanne's boobirds in Anaheim (when with Colorado, and also Selanne with San Jose), and of course Patrice Brisebois' own Habs fans booing him at the Bell Centre for all those years.

I'm a big boobird supporter. :P

This is basically what we do here. Chara got it last game. The goalies always get it. The best players always get it when they're here.

It was enjoyable to see Boychuk crush Kane along the boards. Happened 3 times through the game, and you just tell after the first time that Kane wanted nothing to do with going down his side of the ice again :P

You just proved my point. I approve the boobirds when there's backstory, and a reason to doing it. To some extent, all those people on your list deserve the boobirds. What has the average NHL captain done to incur the wrath of the Jets fans? Sure, maybe they're just being passionate, and that's fine. I'd rather boo someone for a reason other than the fact that they wear a C on an opposing jersey. But besides that, I love the boobirds, like you mentioned, the Marchand/Subban boobirds are my favorites.

Sorry the video svcks, but the best goal of the year IMO is Seguin's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEGu877HKMA Insane.

That was one of those goals that just makes you jaw drop. The first one Crosby made in his first game back was also pretty insane.

Yeah, the whole "Oh wait it's Chara, lets boo!" thing was kind of dumb, but I can't lie, those fans in Winnipeg are pretty damn passionate. Sure as hell wasn't like that back in Atlanta.

Oh yes. It was one of the loudest buildings (at least it appeared so on TV) I've heard in a while. Very impressive.

Although they lost, the B's played a phenomenal game tonight. There hasn't been a game since the streak that I've gone "Wow, they really need to pick up the pace." Or anything along those lines. They take on the Blue Jackets on saturday, I'm confident they can turn it around.

Wasn't able to watch most of the game but it's always nice to beat the Pens, whether Crosby is playing or not.

Congrats to Philadelphia. Too little, too late for Pittsburgh. The Pens' defense was poor, and the Flyers played well. You can't spot a team three goals and expect to win.
