Hunger Games Videogame

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 9:40 pm

I'm sorry, but most games based off a book/movie series ends harshly. Take a look at the Harry Potter games; Didn't really click.
Yes movie/books that are a series and that are made into videogames usually are mediocre at best. But once in awhile, theres that gem, the needle in the haystack. I'm hoping this is the case with the Game of Thrones RPG videogame that is going to be released soon.

No offence, I'm not trying to flame here, but I think it would be terrible.

The BOOK of Hunger Games was basically a rip off of Japanese film Battle Royale and now Hollywood have come along and made a happy clappy film about it that's had to be toned down for release in the UK.

Now, a Battle Royale game made by Bethesda....

After seeing the Hunger Games, I'm definitely standing by my opinion. Same basic concept. Execution was completely different. Two very different films.

Gives a lot to think about!
Does it? I don't find, "yet another unrealistic gamer wants to see his beloved overhyped franchise turned into a mummorpuger and thinks 'having an idea' is the only thing needed to make a game" to be a very refreshing or thought-provoking concept. There's plenty of multiplayer games for you out there, go play those instead of asking for a MMORPG from one of the few remaining companies who still make decent single-player games.

Also this.

I see this remark often and every time I see it, I feel compelled to say that just because two stories' premises are the same, doesn't mean it's a rip-off. For all you know, that ditz who wrote Hunger Games has never even heard of Battle Royale. I know it comes as a surprise, but *gasp* sometimes stories are similar without having any connection!

To illustrate my point, years ago I did a collab writing efffort on Skwid's Lair. The premise was that a hundred characters were dropped in a destroyed ruin, with a single weapon, and left to kill each other until one remained (it was 'cleverly' called "99 Ways To Die"). Now when I came up with that idea, I had never even heard of Battle Royale even though the premise was so similar. See what I mean? If an idea is good, more than one person can come up with it.
