The game was not unplayable at launch, however it was pretty buggy. Just because Bethesda has lied at this point doesn't mean we have to in our repudiation of their behavior. And yes, they have lied -- or at least seriously misled -- their PC and PS3 customer base by claiming we'd be informed of what the DLC schedule would be like in the weeks following the game.
Is it technically still "weeks" follow the game? Yes. But it will always be so. At this point it has been over 2 months since FNV's release, Xbox 360 got Dead Money, and we still have no clue whatsoever when the PS3 and PC DLCs will be released -- if ever.
It was crappy of Bethesda to wait til the very end of the launch window to notify us that they would have DLC exclusivity, it was crappy of them to claim they would be telling us shortly then wait months to do so, and it was crappy of them to ever agree to have DLC exclusivity to begin with. All of that on the heels of the way PS3 users were treated with Oblivion and Fallout 3, we are definitely owed some attention and disclosing of information.
Treating 2 of the 3 platforms your game is on this way is a great way to alienate future customers, especially when your company didn't even make the game (Obsidian did), and you're merely playing gatekeeper on the basis of Intellectual Property rights.
I'm rapidly losing respect for Zenimax media as a whole, which before FNV's launch, I thought was going to grow to be a publishing group that rivals the likes of EA and Activision, but without all of the drama and overt greed. Thanks for proving me wrong Bethesda.
