Aimbots are made by reverse engineering the game engine. They discover the data involving hitboxes and cursor controls. Some how this information is ran in a program which forces the engine to run certain scripts to do this. It also allows that instance of the game to bypass whatever parity those variables have with a server so it's not detected. I believe people go through the trouble for the technical challenge of it. They distribute it because they get thrills from the slight anarchy it causes. Then the people who use it are just selfish and immature. Behaving like a sociopath to strangers with no consequences is how they enjoy spending their time. Ruining the fun for their fellow gamers makes them some how think they're 'sticking it to the man'.

So what I'm saying is Brink is not going to "fix the aimbot problem" since it is a social issue, not a technical one. They can do all they want to try and stop it but someone always finds another way. And because they're sociopaths I'm guessing that's why they play video games only when they can have an advantage. Otherwise where is the challenge? And then where is the point? It's a slot machine you never lose money to I guess. A simple procedure for a simple mind.

Exactly. I want to beat my enemies not let some code do it for me. I just think these people svck at the game so cheat to compensate.

True, all cheats are lame. I only used them on gta(singleplayer) to go on a rampage, but in shooters, never.
They take away the challenge of the game.

It's always up to the devs/admins to do something. Or not. As Auzner pointed out, it's not a technical problem, but a social one. And the devs/admins are on the other social end.

Here is a quick story to aim boting:one upon a time there was a really good mechanical engineer who svcked at half life 1 death match, he was also a troll so he hacked to game and invented AIMBOTING! *shivers in fear* So he realized that it pissed people off and he never died so he told all hes noob friends and they invented the cult (fagots that have no skill) and from this day the scaryness of aimboting is still in are games and the noobs haunt us with there gay ass aim bot hack! Thats why splash damage invented a little thing called the same experience you will get on multiplayer when you play unlike games like cod when if you dont play online and you beat the story thats it.

Here is a quick story

Yeah that sounds like a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisocial_personality_disorder. Rather than find something else he could enjoy he had to obsess over it and bring it to the level he wanted. Like wishing to a genie that you become the smartest person alive which turns out to only make everyone else stupider than you. There is the technical skill to admire, but it earns no merit for its intentions.

Like all FPS games, there will always be someone who manages to get around game security. As already stated - The only real way that a game can battle hackers and aimbots is to have an active staff who are able to tell when someone is cheating, which is a difficult skill; as well as patching to prevent them after the fact. What will set Brink apart, however is the option to play Co-Op vs competent AI.

A week or two ago, there was a public hack released (for free) for the game Crossfire. Until the next patch, just about every single room had at least one blatant hacker(wall hacking, speed hacking, aimbot, 1-hit-kill, infinite ammo, 0 spread, you name it), and thats not even counting players who can actually hide the fact that they were wall hacking. I was basically forced to quit the game for a while as it was no longer any fun. If this happens in Brink, you have the option of just playing Co-Op with your friends until the next security patch.

A VAC ban or even a cd key ban are a lot more effective and persuasive than a ban from a free game. However, I don't see any complete fix other than streaming games and the input delay and bandwidth problems that model introduces.

Ive been playing free games so long i forgot about CD keys :P
But even if an epidemic is unlikely, I still like the fact that I can have a contingency plan
