Is it just me or is the NV GECK useless?

No matter what I do (even just start and directly click on save), any attempt to save a plugin ends with:

---------------------------
Warning
---------------------------
You must close all open Dialog Boxes before saving.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

View > Open Windows doesn't list any open windows.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Hmmm... I've saved a few plugins so far without that message (unless applicable). I don't have the game yet though, so that might be part of it. Maybe try without loading FalloutNV.ESM?

Also, I downloaded the editor http://fallout.beths...loads/geck.html rather than Steam.

Also, I downloaded the editor from Beth and not Steam.
Me too.

I just figured it out. I need to run GECK "as administrator" for it to work.

Which is really strange because the folder I try to save into ( D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data ; notice the D: not C: ) is has unrestricted read/write access for my (non-admin) user account.

Aha! I turned off UAC entirely, so maybe that's the difference. Good to hear you've gotten around that though. :)

Damn good thing you got it to work, I just got done scowering the entire INI file and could find Nothing that controls the warnings like that.

I'm going to re-install my FNV in C:\Games\Steam to avoid program files altogether just to make a shorter path, and I also turned-off UAC - wala - problem gone.

UAC, are you sure you want to disable it?

UAC is useless unless:

a ) you run it at max setting.
b ) you do not use an account with administrative power.

Unless you satisfy both condition A and B, UAC is easily bypassed by any malicious application, so you might as well kill it.

This also happens because of Ultramon. There is a http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/Save in the geck wiki about it.
