Heavy vs Medium vs Light 2

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:37 am

Whenever I think about playing as a Light guy, I always picture myself using the terrain to my advantage. Never being on the ground if I can help it, always taking the elevated paths, shooting down at people from behind reasonable cover, that sort of thing. Because I'm not likely to win many direct confrontations, now am I? It's not that Lights have to play smarter, they just have to play more carefully, since they're so fragile.

Exactly why challenge heavies on their turf.

That's my point, you can take the extra five seconds too write a full sentence. This isn't a chatroom.

yeah but it isn't mandatory.

I will be happy as long as the 3 classes are all balanced equally, I've always felt that rock paper scissors balancing is the most boring thing you can possibly do for a game. I don't feel it would be too unbelievable to have the game develop in such a way where Light > Medium > heavy > light, but having large disadvantages vs a certain type of player removes a bit of the skill vs skill aspect of FPS games. True balancing is much better.

Yep, and I think it's pretty balanced for as far as I've seen.

There are 4 classes. Soldier, engineer, operative and medic.

Had you actually read my post you would have known that i actually meant body types, even though i mistakenly used the word "classes" without thinking about it, Besides, look at the name of the thread

I did read your post, I just thought you said that out of the blue or something. That you just wanted to.

This wouldn't be the first time this thread was used to debate a class and a weight. *Glares at Pyrishma*

Combining the "builds" with other classes could lead to some very interesting tactical choices. I could be a light engineer, jumping up to the rooftops behind enemy lines, set up a sentry, and pick people off as they head to the battle, making the resistance sustained against my team that much less. Or, I could play as a heavy operative, using the health and ammo boost to support me as I go to accomplish some of the more "lone wolf" tasks that, inevitably, support the team. Yes, maybe getting past the initial battle-line could be a bit of a problem, but, if you stealth it out right, you could be a devastating force on the enemy's endeavors.

Bigger bodies also mean that they are easier to hit, right ? I don't know but I think this could cause some serious balance problems. A "light" class which is faster and more agile could take out any other class easily if your aiming skills are good enough. No matter how powerful a weapon is. A headshot is usually an instant kill or is this different in this game ?

Nope, a headshot is not an instant kill here. Not even with a light (there are no sniper rifles) rifle. It takes about 3-5 headshots. By default, you cannot OHK in this game.

Who says the heavy won't have good aiming skills?

It takes about 3-5 headshots to kill a heavy in this game with an assault rifle or SMG apparently.

My point was that it's easier to hit a big and slow target than a fast and small target. So even if the heavy class player has a good aiming skill he has a disadvantage because it's harder for him to hit the enemy (light class) while it's easier for his opponent. But ok. If there is no OHK it alleviates that problem.

P.S. Did you have the chance to play the game before ?

The light has the least amount of health however. So the light is at a disadvantage as well.

No, I have not have a chance to play this game before. This is from what I have read in interviews, watched in interviews and learned from the forums.

Well you didint really say what kind of battle they would be having hehehe. If it was a race light will when by far if it was running and shooting eachother medium would most likly when if it was a gun fight in a area with no where to climb like a dessert then well heavy will kill them both. Nah im just kidding it depends on the player.
