DTC's still a veritable nightmare in Skyrim

Pretty much what kalniel said about it. Most companies have gone away from Securom activation however in favor of other forms of DRM like Steam/works, GFWL, Uplay, Origin, etc. that tie your game key to your account but at the same time, provide value-add services and benefits. As stated, if you have any EA games prior to 2009 just google for the game's name + de-authorization tool to see if it shows up, otherwise use the shortcut above or just uninstall the game (revoke occurs automatically for newer games). If you don't reformat your machine a lot, it probably won't be a big deal for you as most of these DRM give you at least 5x5 tokens (up to 5 installs on 5 different machines) before you run out of authorizations. If you do run out, generally you can just email them to reset your product key and they will.

As for your Steam folder, if you have the space on a spare HDD, you can just copy the contents of your Steam\Steamapps\common folder and then copy it back once you've reinstalled Steam. That will save you the hassle of redownloading everything again, especially useful if your ISP has monthly bandwidth caps.

I actually have 6GBs of RAM and the 64 bit disk for windows 7. What do i do just slip the disk in and it will start automatically? Well, darn, that didn't work.
Well Skyrim is back up and running again. It was a job reformatting the hard drive, however. At one point after I had installed all of the Windows 7 64bit updates, I went into MSCONFIG and disabled all of the services as I had done when I had the 32bit installed. Then, when I went to get online I had no connection or sound. I called Comcast to see if there was and outage, but everything was as it should be. Still, the tech had me go into the control panel and click on Network and then, change adapter settings. Lo-and-behold there was nothing there. Unsure of what to do next, I went and reformatted again thinking that some files hadn't gotten installed properly. Again, while I was impatiently waiting for Microsoft to install of its updates I stated thinking. Go figure, huh? Once the updates had been installed I went back into MSCONFIG and repeated what I has done previously. Again, I had no Internet connection or sound. But, this time I went back into MSCONFIG and changed things back . It all works now.

I just barely started a new game in Skyrim after installing several mods, but none that were performance intensive, like HD Textures and ENB series, and the like. Thus far the game is running smoothly. When I was in the MSCONFIG, I did go into the Boot section and Changed it from 1 CPU to 2 and selected the 4GB of Ram in the maximum memory slot.
No offence, but it really sounds like you have no clue what you are doing with your computer.

You have 6GB of ram and a 1GB graphics card and you install the 32bit version of Win7? Why?

And why are you going into MSCONFIG and changing anything? Unless you know exactly 100% what you are doing, you should not be messing with things like that.

Because when I checked with Steam support that is what I read in their FAQ. In regards to me not knowing my computer, not everyone is so perfect and thoroughly knowledgeable. In addition, I am not sixteen years old and was born on a computer. I am actually sixty-five years old and still learning. Incidentally, Everything on my system was purchased either through NewEgg or TigerDirect and built--put together-- by me; with only one minor mistake that took two seconds for a computer tech friend to correct.

I think he means that a 32 bit OS can only ever address 4 GB of RAM. But, upgrading to a 64 bit OS will fix that. Easy. ;)

I spent two days doing it. Now everything seems to work better. However, I left a lot of HD textures out this time, as far as the background is concerned, and some other stuff. I still have about 20 or more mods installed. I have played now for about 10 hours and no crashes. I also opted in for the Beta 1.04 patch.

@ Kastagir: I believe DTC is meant to be CTD, I've seen every combination of the acronym in some of these post headlines, like CDT etc.
It helps to get the TLAs (three letter acronyms) right in the thread titles...
