Does the "pcb" command still work?
some say ya...but in my testing i did not see any change in my Graphs. I tried both ...PCB & pcb neither one did anything. BUT if I ALT/TAB i see the Texture usage on my graph drop 100 -200 megs..

This is interesting...I don't pretend to understand why alt/tab should help...is there any way to do the same thing without alt/tabbing out? Using any of the 3rd party stuff we have rolling?

Sure they do...or at least I do...

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee72/camaro_69_327/Skyrim/Skyrim19_hours32Mins.png Skyrim ran for 19 hours 32 mins...lol

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee72/camaro_69_327/Skyrim%202012/memuseGPU.png This is the last 2 hours...notice the bottom graph, thats system mem in use . if this were to climb, I will get this problem. As long as I keep the center Graph from filling to the top, this will not ever happen.

I just ran for 3 hours today. Am just taking a short break..During these long runs I do not ever get this. BUT, I can cause this any time I want. All i have to do is add in a few more texture packs. Watch my GPU usage climb to higher then my card allows (1 GB of VRAM) and this is guaranteed to happen.

Most interesting may I ask your system specs and what settings you use?

Edit:Oh and you played for straigth 19 hours 32 mins without alt+tabbing right?

First of all thanks to everyone who posted here and gave their input.It seems there are no more feedback coming in so I am going to leave this thread to die.But the thread has 712 views which leads me to believe indeed a lot of people encounter this issue.Why they don't post,that I do not know.

From what I gathered so far the shadow setting seems to have the most impact,so lowering that will make this happen much later.Also the further you progress and the more you fast travel,the often this seems to happen but lowering the shadow settings may prolong this so much that you may not encounter it at all.One thing is certain though,the memory management has some problems in this game and it must be fixed.If I can play more GPU intensive games with maxed out settings for hours and hours and not encounter this,it means this is about Skyrim.

If you wish to add anything to the thread or simply say that you have this issue too,please do,it would be apreciated and I actually don't want this thread to die so that Bethesda will take notice of it and fix this.

Happy gaming to you all :) .

None that I know of , would be nice tho...see below.

No, during the latter hours of that run, I ALT/Tab'ed about every hour or so to take a screen shot of the usage and time . the PIC i posted above ..in that pic you see a low spot in the graph ..thats me in ALT/TAB to take pics.

Normally I play without ever using ALT/TAB. 8, 10 12 hours, what ever I feel. I have my game modded, to the max my system will allow.

Near constant 59 FPS (patch 1.4 is great) Rare occasions of momentary stutter. Always goes back to Fluid play.

I7 860 @ 3373.93 MHz | Maximus III (Formula) | EVGA 560ti /1024 | 8 GB Corsair 1600 | Asus Xonar D2 | Z-5500 | G-15 | G-3 | Corsair 750 W PS
^ ^ Like my new OC..2 weeks stable. Was 2.8, the game really likes the faster clock!

32" HDTV @ 1920 x 1080 60 HZ

Settings normally used...
Click Ultra. Set Shadows to High, AA 2 X (See Additional AA in Inspector) , AF = Off

Nvidia Inspector (no AO) Ambient Occlusion gives me Jitters)
Spoiler

AA = Enhance game setting
AA = 4 x
SSAA = 2x
AF= 16x

Smooth as silk.

Thanks for the reply.You have a nice system there.I can play the game smoothly both indoors and outdoors when I set the shadows to high,it gets even better when I put aa to 4x.Well of course it wouldn't be as smooth as yours but smooth enough for me :smile: .

I saw in the graph that it came very close to fully filling the Vram at some points.I wonder if your Vram will get filled when you are very far into the game,fast travel a lot etc.Because like I said when I was playing with maxed out settings this happened much sooner when I was far into the game and used fast travelling,they sure fill it much sooner.

I guess I will have to put the shadows to high to get rid of this and hope that I won't have to lower it any further while I progress through the game.

Do you use fast travel often?And how far are you into the game?If you put much time into it and use fast travel often then this means simply setting the shadow quality to high will fix this issue for me as well,because I rarely play for more than 5-6 hours.And did you ever encounter this after you put the shadow detail to high?I mean after 12-13 hours?

Edit:Seriously though,you have a nice system,you shouldn't be encountering this at all.Yes you have 1 GB Vram but still... There is something wrong with this,with Skyrim's memory management.I am sure you can max out a lot of demanding games with that rig and of course you wouldn't have this.I hope they fix it somehow.

I don't have this problem...helping others to get rid of it is all.
Since launch....395 Hours, Current Character = "Save 802 - Darkness Gallows Rock 221.56.04" @ 13.4 MB

My save has been 13 MB since 170 hours...and i have finished a ton of crap...including the Main quest, Theives, Mage , and am now starting Champions.

I use a mix of fast travel, and running place to place. Only house i don't have is Windhelm, All others are full of junk...lol

For me the GPU usage goes up and down as I go thru load doors, so even after playing 12 hours it is near, or @ 900-1000

Yeah I noticed the same with GPU usage.Only if the same would happen to Vram usage :biggrin: . I guess I will wait for the WHQL driver,put the shadows to high and AA to 4x and keep playing and hope it doesn't happen.Or wait for a patch to fix this or wait 'till I get a good system and play for hours maximized :biggrin: .

Thanks for the info.If you are in 395 hours and this doesn't happen to you with your current settings,guess it will be really hard for me to encounter it too if I do some lowering.It started happening much sooner for me after about 100 hours,but my settings were maxed like I said.Hope they fix it somehow.

Of course if would be great if people with this problem came here and posted,it would make Bethesda notice this and perhaps even fix it.
