Anyone else getting an MSDOS window on boot pops up for a second says AMD....... then gone? Since updating to 12.3 I see it every boot....was never there with any previous driver versions.

I did notice it on the first boot after installing 12.3. Something about finalizing an installation for AMD video...something or other. Since the DOS text was talking about installations, I assumed it was just a one off thing. I'll check and see if it's still present when I boot my system again tomorrow morning and maybe get a little Google-fu on.

I am still waiting for an equivalent AMD driver version from the ones nVidia released that claims to boost performance up to 45%... each new driver i lost 1-2 fps and its getting annoying...

Whats the best way to completely remove the old drivers so you can install fresh? Someone mentioned a driver sweeper program before but I lost it now.

Unless you have issues there's no reason to use 3rd party. AMD comes with a perfectly fine uninstaller that works. Now if you do indeed have issues you can use http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html.

Driver sweeper isn't necessary.

All I do is go to program's in control panel, select AMD Catalyst Control Manager (I think that's what it's called), click Change, then in the window that comes up, select Uninstall All.

After that's done and I've rebooted, I go ahead and install the latest driver.

with 12.3 it's unplayable for me. textures have wrong colors, big pixels are floating around and on surfaces everywhere. :(
I hope the Xbox update will be available soon.

The pixel bug is a problem with 12.2. Did you actually clean install the new 12.3 or just update? Because updating doesn't seem to work for people.

Initially the 12.3's were fine for me but don't seem to like adaptive anti aliasing, 12.2 previews are still the safest bet.

That only happens with 12.2 which also have a version bug (it'll say it's 12.3 when it's actually not). So download the actual 12.3 driver

Sweet. I only saw a brief DOS window pop-up on my boot this morning, which is apparently normal with this driver set. A bit of Googling shows that this is the new OpenCL / AMD media library encoder starting up. It should only linger / do that "finalizing installation" bit on your first boot after you install the drivers, after that it's just a brief flash when it starts at boot. If it's lingering on subsequent boots for whatever reason, something done been broke.

Also, a word of potential caution for Crossfire users looking to upgrade their drivers: a number of people have reported that 12.3 forces one of their two cards to stick in 3D mode, even when just on the desktop (so when both cards should be downclocked and idling)--which causes a jump in idle temperatures of 10 degrees+.

This isn't universal...some people with Crossfire or even Tri-fire () are saying their cards are still downclocking like they should. But it's something to keep in mind. If you see this happening on your system after installing 12.3, I do recommend rolling back to 12.1 or whatever older driver set has worked best for you. "Idling" at 3D clock speeds is not good for your GPU.

Another side note: seems MSI takes my user controlled fan settings on boot now(there has been a bug for a while that required unchecking and rechecking the user defined box).

I updated to 12.3 and now my game is completely [censored] graphics-wise. Unless I completely turn off AA (which I should never, ever have to do just because of a bad update) I get crazy texture flickering, and I see bizarre wire forms under bodies of water.

One of the many reasons I [censored] hate playing on PC. Now I get to go dike around with uninstalling my drivers and reinstalling. Great. Yay.

No such problems on my Xbox 360 version. I'm so pissed off.

I Uninstalled my old AMD driver by using the Catalyst Install manager in Programs & Services > Express Uninstall. I've now restarted my computer and am currently downloading Catalyst Software Suite 12.3. Once that is done and installed, Do I also need to download the Application Profiles?

CAP is for dual cards or Crossfire so if you use dual or tri cards then yes. Single card then don't bother. However their is no profile that I know of for Skyrim and you are best running non crossfire in regards to playing it for the time being.

After installing 12.3 the only thing I noticed was a severe drop in framerate. All the other problems are still there: Striped shadows, flickering LODs and all. Is there any reason at all to get the latest drivers if your card is pretty old and low end (6670)?

I just hate that feeling how everytime you upgrage something it gets worse, not better.

i am using the GDDR5 6570 Mobility and i get decent frames, and i am happy about it. I am using 12.1 catalyst. You mentioned that your 6670 has severe fps drop, which left me thinking if i should update too. Hope someone answers. I like 12.1, no issues at all, is it worth it to update to 12.3?

12.3 with flashing white blocks here. I haven't played for a bit, so not sure whether it's the driver or the Skyrim update that downloaded this morning. The problem is both with and without the hi res pack which worked fine when I originally downloaded it.

I tried it saw no real change in Skyrim and some lost performance in BF3 so I went back to 12.1.
