Archery Magic Range Limit Fix

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 1:41 pm

i was thinking the more you raise your archery skill and perks , the character could hit a target further away. otherwise maybe it's part of the balance. perhaps raising this figure is like cheating in a way.
And I would have agreed, except even my maxed out archer had arrows passing through the targets without damage.
One thing I do note, this game sometimes loses or does not load the collision mesh for objects, collision mesh is required for a hit detect.

Does anyone also notice that while in sneak at a distance, the enemy become alert the moment the bow string is released?, in other words they are alert even before the arrow has left the bow.

I would like to add that in addition to adding the "fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=XXXX.0000" to Skyrim.ini, you also need to open SkyrimPrefs.ini and find "fLODFadeOutMultActors=XX.0000" and ensure this number is high enough or it'll seem as though nothing is being done. It seems that when I took a look at my actor fade distance, it was set to 0 but when I increased it to 15.0000 (the max), I was able to hit the guys I couldn't before.

I don't know why mine saved all the distances as 0, but I figured if I posted what I found, someone else having the same problem might enjoy the fix finally.

Any advice for someone playing on a console? Think this might get patched at some point? I don't know 1 fellow archer who doesn't think this distance limitation thing is BS. If I can aim the shot properly, regardless of the distance, why shouldn't it count?
