I had to buy a new computer as my old one is going kaput, so I've installed Skyrim on it to test it out. At first the Helgen sequence ran ok as far as I could tell, but inside the fort I did notice some wierd stuttering. When I look at the ground and walk along, it's smooth for a few seconds but then I get like a stutter, jagginess or something...it's like the FPS goes down by about half, but then it returns to smooth again, then back to stutter.
When starting the game for the first time, it auto-detected it for ultra. Thing is on my old machine it ran very well, I was surprised how well it did. Never got the same stutter on it at all. (I did get other problems, but ironed those out) The specs on my old one are:
i7 870 2.93GHz
1gb Radeon 5850
4gb Corsair Dual-DDR3 1333MHz
XP 32
Yet, on my new computer I get the stutter, a better machine. How? Main specs of that are:
i7-2600 3.40GHz
3gb Radeon 7970
8gb Kingston Dual-DDR3 1600MHz
Win 7 64
And an SSD, but I doubt it's that. I notice the same thing sort of when turning around, again that was not a problem on my old machine and was very smooth, everywhere. I cannot understand why the new one should do this. Does the monitor resolution on the resolution of the game have to match? Thanks for any replies.
Edit: Not running any mods.
