Double the trouble :D

It should also be noted that the Emperor was a big, strong (if admittedly aged) man so it'd take a pretty big guy to have any hope of keeping float wrapped in steel. That's why some of us choose robes... :whistling:

I foresee an area-of-effect type of spell, to electrocute everything within a certain radius once a body of water is detected. After the CK comes out :whistling:

Well, here's some early july thoughts on the subject, don't post in the thread though: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1206383-fighting-in-the-water/page__p__18013268__fromsearch__1#entry18013268

I wanted and still would want an underwater combat that would be much more interactive and feel like you are fighting in the water. Basically, a fight between two humans who can't breath underwater would be a fight to drown the other and cut him full of small holes with your dagger. Having underwater breathing would be a huge advantage, as every movement drains more oxygen and the water-breather doesn't need to worry about that. Small weapons and fists should be allows in underwater combat, swinging a warhammer is silly. So I say yes, add underwater combat but make it feel like underwater combat first. :)

Under water combat? To make NPCs get out of water they would have to get some AI package to detect it, add timer, make them swim to the surface or die trying. Pretty complicated just to keep them forever underwater, let alone combat. It can happen, though. Ask in the Mod section and who knows.

Jabs and stabs actually would be the only efficient things really...guess that explains why there are only two water creatures in the entire game...
This.

Swinging a sword underwater would be some slow motion action.. useless. The same can be said for punching or kicking underwater.
Stabbing is the only feasible movement, which is why we should be able to obtain spears and go fishing..

Have you ever tried fighting with fists underwater? Nobody gets hurt, like at all; you have no grounding for your strike, and you lose the major element of what makes a powerful punch, velocity.

Underwater knives/daggers are ideal because they don't need momentum to work properly, grappling and choking is fine for the same reason, but fists.. nope.

When I said fist I didn't mean the silly TES fist fighting, more like grabbing. But currently we got nothing, so anything would do :D

Too much reality sometimes is not fun ... Or is this an error?

In which case I completely agree. If there were an unarmed skill, there could have been a crit chance of entering some kind of drowning animation based on your skill. It would be awesome to see my guy swim up and hold the other bugger's head down.. unless he's an argonian of course lol.. in which case I would suggest getting the hell out of the water.

Well at least you should be able to use a dagger. In real life you still can use a knife underwater for small forward thrusts. Hell, this game is not real, you are dragonborne you should be able to do anything!

We cant fight underwater because in order for the big shots to get more richer they employed only 5 programmers for Skyrim and that causes no time to complete basic features.

Well Daggers would do fine underwater.
It's just logic really, you can't swing a 10-30 lb sword underwater. Humans, Mer and Khajiit are too weak.

One of my favorite memories from Oblivion is the first time my mage (inadvertently) drowned an enemy whilst water breathing. I thought, man, how cool is that - an actual *use* for water breathing. Granted, it's highly situational as A) Most dungeons don't have any deep water in them, B) if the enemies can, they'll swim up to the surface to breath, so it only works in like tunnels where there's no "surface" and thus no air for them to breath (unless you also do something like Burden or Paralyze them so they can't swim up to the surface, which is also a perfectly valid tactic).
