NV GECK Complaints!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:19 am

The geck is one of the reasons I give kudos to the developers, anyone who can work with it has my respect, I spend most of my time banging my head against the desk because of it, but the most important thing, it's free!, and we get to change some aspects of the game to our individual taste, sure I privately rant about it as a POS, but I would rather have this POS than nothing at all.

Really? The things that get me raging are usually everything BUT the GECK. Getting an animated static from Max into the game, MatchRace and MatchFaceGeometry being completely fubar, etc. (Okay, MatchRace is mostly okay, but it's still wonky as hell.)

Hm. While we're talking issues, anyone else have that problem where the water seems always "on top" of the land in the editor? Given the lack of mention, I'm guessing not, but just in case...?

Easy fix that one, go into preferences, render window tab and uncheck the constant update box under water settings.

Heightmap editor crashes if I try and use it in any way, besides simply opening it.

All I know is FO4 and TES:V better be running on idTech 5 when they arrive, or I'm gonna go postal.

It's a nice engine but it's suited to what you've come to know and love as a classic "Bethesda game". I'm not saying we don't need a new engine. We do. It's just, it needs to be extremely similar to or a new iteration of Gamebyro, because it does what it does very well, despite getting a little old for the times.
