Im gonna kill the [censored] out of the Dark Brotherhood (sp

So yeah if I choose to kill off the Dark Brotherhood is there any unintended side effects? I did a quick playthrough of the Dark Brotherhood and I know that by killing them I miss out on Shadowmere as well as some followers but are there any other side effects like not being able to access word walls due to the fact that I need to do a DB mission to access the area that they are in? Or perhaps unrelated quests that somehow get screwed up by killing the DB?

You miss up a side quest where you help Cicero fix his wagon, you miss the Volunruud word wall, and you miss out on Luchien Lachance

Dont you miss the Cecero wagon quest if you join the DB before doing it anyway? Besides I already did it.

Also will I really miss out on the Volunruud word wall? I thought there was another quest that takes you there anyway?

Arngier gave me the breadcrumb to Volunruud.... I always off the entire DB, and haven't noticed any issues.

You can still gain access to Volunruud because the dungeon has a quest of its own inside.

Volunruud is completely do-able. You lose the chance to help Cicero by joining the Dark Brotherhood.

So apart from Shadowmere, a few followers and the Dawnstar sanctuary (which is nowhere near as nice as the Falkreath sanctuary) I really wont miss much?

Nope , the armor's pre-enchanted some of the other stuff is "meh" unless you're lower level and playing an assassin , then it's really great. Otherwise play it the way you want to.

The repeatable quests you get at the end of the story arc are some of the least inspired to boot.

Night Mother: "Blah blah walk halfway across skyrim to talk to contractor"
<2 hours later>
Contractor: "Blah blah walk to other side of map to kill douchbag farmer, have some gold"
<2 hours later>
Douchbag farmer: "I am a generic nameless douchbag. Oh, my kidneys, i need those. x.x"
<2 hours later>
Nightmother: Scroll up 6 lines, rinse and repeat ad nauseum.

It's not like the companions where there's 4 or 5 basic flavours of quest and the odd special thrown in to keep things mixed up

Companions repeatables aren't much better.

I'd say that the biggest thing you miss out on by killing the DB is that you can't marry Muiri except via the console.

I don't get what is so great about Muiri. She doesn't have a cute face, and everybody in Skyrim has the same body, plus she hired demon-worshipping assassins to off her last lover, so... I just don't get it.

Shadowmere is a much bigger loss. If you like horses who tank for you, that is. Otherwise, I think there's a word wall or something? I actually don't think it makes any difference if you decide to join them or destroy them.

Volunruud, Ver.... and you can get the breadcrumb from either Arngeir, or the Courier. So you don't even miss that.

LOL! Well that part is bad yes, would not be so bad if it was like the Thieves Guild. The Dark Brotherhood just gets crapped on after their main story just like they did in Oblivion.

The savior of the DB gets a lifetime supply of useless annoying quests from the Night Mother. Awesome reward, right? Right?! :P

Muiri>

Shadowmere is meh, well horses in general are meh.

Cicero's Armor
Blade of woe
Ancient shrouded armor
maybe 1 or 2 shouts
20k septims
earning 1k+ septims a kill later

The thieves guild is more important though imo.

Well not only that but even most of the main missions and non random missions for the Dark Brotherhood are pretty svcky as well, most of them can be completed by just going up to the target and saying "Im gon kill you!" and watch the guards kill them because they attack you first.

You lose access to both the game's master alchemy trainer and master light armor trainer if either of those weigh on your decision.

You loose the ability to summon Lucien Lachance's ghost. He isn't that special, but he's a cheap summon and can sneak.

If by "some bad [censored]" you mean "nothing", then yes.

In Oblivion, you didn't even get to do the murder. It was "get orders, deliver orders to Speaker in sanctuary, get paid". You'd think they could just move the sanctuary to Bravil and save some running around.
