Do you actually sell your stuff?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:07 am

I dont! I have a chest in my proud spire manor (I got for free :D) filled with 50 dragons cales, 100 dragon bones and countless gem's, ingredients and ores.

No shopkeeper is rich enough to buy enough of my stuff to make it worth the trouble of selling so i keep it in my house (along with 180 enchantments iron daggers each worth about 300 septims)

When I can, yes. I keep unique items and put some things on display, but everything else is sold. It's better than having a bunch of sharp objects sitting in a box, collecting dust.

Yeah I keep all my stuff now that I got my $100,000 achievement, I put it in the safe and it makes me feel rich. Of course I do have $375,000 in the safe and only carry 25k.

Cheers

Join the Thieves Guild and complete the quest line. This will open your world up to fences that will have $4,000 septims on hand --- give or take a few. It's kind of a -- do it or enjoy not getting full value for stuff.

I just keep unique items, weapons and armor. I also keep all of my dragon bones and scales. I have the dragon armor smithing perk so it would be foolish to sell them individually instead of crafting them into armor and then selling them.

When I played oblivion, I dumped every piece of jewelry into the pool in the vile layer. Eventually it overflowed out of the pool and I would run through it laughing like Scrooge McDuck. This time, I'm collecting troll and human skulls.

Yes, I sell my junk. Only thing I buy is arrows, because without mods, they can't be made.

I've never really had a problem finding arrows. I use ancient nord, steel and iron outside of caves and the higher ups inside. Since they have no weight I don't see the reason to get rid of them.

I have been selling the dragon bones and scales and a lot of unenchanted gear because I might want to buy an expensive house. This time it'll have an enchanting table. It's looking like I like the town so I'm glad I did sell so much. I still have barrels and containers full of stuff though...staves, potions, ingredients, swords, shields, boots, clothes, books, etc., just everything. You'd think I was a pack-rat if you didn't know I sold a lot too.

I am currently sitting on 900+ ebony arrows. I have around 200 daedric, which are very very rare to get as drops. The ebonies were all pretty much bought via merch and selling the fodder to them.

Yeah I try to sell my junk off, going from town to town. The shops simply don't have the money and I acquire it at a faster rate than they reset. So I resort to only taking loot that is most valuable or what I can use.

The worst was when I bought some mats to work on my smithing (I then use the smithed items for enchanting) and after getting a few weapons worth ~1k - 2k, the BS that I had bought all the mats and was up to over 6k gold was reset back down to ~1200. The worst of it was that their inventory wasn't even stocked. You'd think that with all the gold collected from chests, urns, and enemies that the npc's would have more to work with.

I just can't justify working on my speech up to 70 for the 500 gold investment and 100 for the 1k gold boost and having to invest in perks along the way. Also what is the point of the 5 ranks to haggle being the first perk when most shops don't even have enough money to cover the value of 2 items I got out of a chest (leaving another 3 behind don't forget). It would've been better had they made the 500g investment perk the first one but have it 5 ranks @ 100g or 200g per rank. So each rank allows you to invest another 100g/200g capping at 500g/1000g. The 1000g boost should then be the second. The Haggle could then be reduced from 5 ranks to 3 ranks @ 10% per rank ultimately resulting in the same 30% and can then be the third perk in the path.

Yeah I sell it. I keep unique things and artifacts to put on display, but sell the rest.

But if I have enough gold and don't feel like I'll need anymore, I don't even collect the loot in the first place.

The chest at my Proudspire Manor is packed with Daedric Atrifacts, Dragon Preist Masks, and cool quest items. Pretty much anything unique I hang onto. My four mannequins are wearing the whole Arch Mage ensemble, the Nightengale suit, Mythic Dawn robes with a Dragon Preist mask, and one just has a full set of Deadric armor.

I sell pretty much anything I make of find that's not unique. Like for potions I'll purchase EVERY ingredient that the alchemy merchant has, and then they have enough money for me to sell to them until they're back to zero. Sure, I only profit about 750 gold or so, but I'm exchanging items with low value to weight ratios for ones with high ratios.

My character has got about twenty-five thousand septims. He hasn't bought a house yet, so that will be a sizable chunk. And master level spells will be another large chunk (probably more so than the house). But other than that, I've found he doesn't need money for much anything. So, he's pretty much stopped collecting every little bit of loot he can find. If it's unique or very nice he'll take it (and keep most of it, only selling non-unique generic loot that happened to be worth a bit of money) but everything else is rubbish and is left where it was found.

The speech tree is actually quite effective if you enjoy selling items. The Thieves Guild helps as well, after getting all the vendors there, you can probably sell around 10k or more down at the Ragged Flagon. You are free to invest in any merchant you want (which also helps if you're working on Thane achievements, because the investments counts towards helping citizens) and then the extra 1k helps sell of some of those larger finds that you feel no one can ever purchase. Going through the tree also allows you to sell any type of item to any vendor, so you can sell all those enchanted daggers to the alchemy shop or the inn keeper (each with over 1000 septims to barter with). I sell anything I don't really think is worth keeping, which is a lot of stuff. Having smithing and enchanting at 100 allowed for some nice sells to plenty of vendors when those daggers are worth 600-700 each. To me, I think "sell, sell, sell" but I also save things here and there, mostly books. I keep special armors and either place them on mannequins or put them in the wardrobe, but mostly, everything gets sold. I rarely keep armor or weapons I find, because anything I craft will be much better than anything I can find. Also, if it cannot be disenchanted, it will be sold. I'd much rather have the money than the item, usually.
