The speech tree is actually quite effective if you enjoy selling items. The Thieves Guild helps as well, after getting all the vendors there, you can probably sell around 10k or more down at the Ragged Flagon. You are free to invest in any merchant you want (which also helps if you're working on Thane achievements, because the investments counts towards helping citizens) and then the extra 1k helps sell of some of those larger finds that you feel no one can ever purchase. Going through the tree also allows you to sell any type of item to any vendor, so you can sell all those enchanted daggers to the alchemy shop or the inn keeper (each with over 1000 septims to barter with). I sell anything I don't really think is worth keeping, which is a lot of stuff. Having smithing and enchanting at 100 allowed for some nice sells to plenty of vendors when those daggers are worth 600-700 each. To me, I think "sell, sell, sell" but I also save things here and there, mostly books. I keep special armors and either place them on mannequins or put them in the wardrobe, but mostly, everything gets sold. I rarely keep armor or weapons I find, because anything I craft will be much better than anything I can find. Also, if it cannot be disenchanted, it will be sold. I'd much rather have the money than the item, usually.
