Did you join the Forsworn?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:20 pm

I killed madonnach in the cell. Had to reload quite a number of times since he is really powerful and all i got is a dual casting impact firebolt and a shiv....
After escaping the mine, thornar greeted me outside, but since he is the reason why i got jailed, i assassinated him when he is about to leave. That way i get his ring, and both madonnach and thornar dies.

I never really thought of it as "joining" the Forsworn. It was more like a temporary truce until we escaped from Markarth.

To warn everyone. If the jail breakout is during daytime almost half of Markaths citizens will be killed. Most of them are vampires, btw.

I do not like the Forsworn. They are barbarians that have turned their backs on true Breton culture. If they had proper orgainsation and did not resort to barbarism, I would be more supportive of their revolution.

The Forsworns are indeed friendly to you after you finish that quest, but only the ones in druadach redoubt since the king is there too. He just needs time to tell all the other forsworns in the whole reach that.

Vampires or corpse eaters...

I 'joined' the outbreak though did not participate in any slaughter. Afterwards citizens asked me if I wasn't a part of the violence? There's no option for me to reassure them. Later in the game I came across Forsworn who did not attack me. I did not attack them- but most Forsworn still attacked me on sight, despite the outbreak.

Next time I'll break out on my own. the point of the game is to make it obvious there are no heros here- all parties are rotten, the forsworn, the markath corpse eaters and the vampires. "Nobody's good" is fast becoming a gaming cliche. It might become an epidemic.

I killed them once I got my gear back near the exit to Markarth. This way you get armour of the old god as well your bounty being cleared. I did notice at one location (cave with a blacksmith forge) the forsworns were not hostile to the player, but else where they still were.

There is no one breton culture. The term breton refers to a massive group of races and ethnic identities that are united only by their similar genes, which incorporates human, aldmer, and sometimes a small amount of orcish blood (don't even say that last bit to a breton's face though). The Forsworn were called the "witchmen" before Skyrim was made. They haven't forsaken any culture. They were always this way for hundreds if not thousands of years.

Your bounty will be cleared either way. There is no benefit or drawback to siding with either of them other than different gear. Sounds exciting, doesn't it? (Sarcasm)

Not if you attack the guards with the Forsworns you don't. Plus you get a reward for killing them as well. Smithing Ring I think.

I wish we could join the Forsworn. During the "Escape from Cidna Mine Quest" I sided with them the whole way through. I even helped kill some of the guards on the way out. I hope they put in a Forsworn questline which helps them take back the Reach.

Madonach tried to have my head removed from my shoulders. I'm attached to that! It didn't end too well for him.

Thonar received a quiet visit in the dead of night too.... :whistling:

The Forsworn always creeped me out, and sometimes I come across a random SUPER strong Forsword that two shots me. So no I never join them, in fact I wipe out their camps as often as possible.

I meant the "bounty" you get during the questline goes away either way. Attacking guards causes a new bounty, but either way, your original crimes are magically forgotten even if you "join" the forsworn, despite numerous npcs commenting on how they saw you butcher countless people in the streets. I just wish Bethesda wouldn't be so afraid of adding real consequences to our actions. It feels like joining the forsworn doesn't affect anything when you're still attacked by the majority of them, everyone in markarth forgives you, and you never get to see them retake markarth. I know having an entire city against you would svck, but that would be as a result of YOUR choicee. They could have made a second questline where you either take back markarth or destroy the forsworn once and for all. In the meantime, if you sided with the forsworn you could do your trading and sleeping at the various forsworn camps, and when you take back Markarth the tables wouls turn and the nords would be at the lowest rung of society, and the reach would become part of High Rock again (according to lore the reach used to be known as the "western reach of high rock")

Well. They aren't exactly "true bretons" no, but what defines that? So your telling me if someone took your home from you, and forced you into exile, or false imprisionment.... you wouldn't be pissed?

I didn't know you could join the Forsworn. They always attack me on sight anyway, never give me a chance. Screw 'em is what I say.
I didn't realize that you could join them when I was doing the quest either. The way I figure it, if they want to attack me for no good reason, they're not worth my help anyways.. lol

The Reachmen and Bretons are the same race but have a different culture. Over 5000 years ago, when elves still ruled Tamriel, the Bretons were servants to the elves, and the Reachmen were free in remote regions the Falmer didn't care about. Then came the Nords and kicked elven butt. Thoroughly.

For the last 5000 years, the Reachmen and the Nords lived in peace, while a faction of Reachmen continued to live in the ways of their distant ancestors in mountainous regions, far away from civilisation. In the Empire-Dominion war, when everyone was distracted, those people seized Markath and ruled it for two years. Then came Ulfric and kicked Witchmen butt. Thoroughly.

The Survivors of the Markath occupants rallied the other Witchmen tribes and called themselves the Forsworn, and started a guerilla war against everyone who isn't a Forsworn.

If you side with Madanach and the Foresworn in the prison mine, you can meet him and his fellow prisoners in one of the Foresworn caves, around Markarth. They wont be hostile and none of the generic enemies there will be hostile too, even if you have a quest to kill the leader of this cave (not Madanach but a generic one).

The cave Madanach goes to with the other prisoners is not hostile. It also has all the mod-cons: grindstone, tanning rack, tents, etc. But all other Forsworn settlements are.

I met Madranach's claim that I need him with an ice form shout and a shiv to the face. Then I snuck out through the tunnels and only had to fight one frostbite spider.
