the thalmore cannot win

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 5:36 am

Atm the Thalmor can't lose
They currently control Summerset Isles, Valenwood and Elsweyr
Argonia and Morrowind are both out of the reckoning for the moment
Although Hammerfall is still independent its bitterly resentful of the Empire and unlikely to rush to its aid
A long civil war in Skyrim would doubtless suit the Thalmor best but they win whatever the result
If the Empire wins many of its troops will be tied down occupying Skyrim
If the Stormcloaks win they won't be launching any crusades against the Aldmeri Dominion. Sure, they want the Thalmor out, but they also tell you they are tired of fighting the Empires wars. A Stormcloak Skyrim would be a xenophobic isolationist state, almost as hostile to the Empire as to the Aldmeri. In that event the Empire would inevitably be even more of a puppet to the Aldmeri who would also be free to move against Hammerfall knowing Hammerfall had no viable allies left

ow well lets all just lay down and die then ?

if the empire put more effort into traing mudcrab we would of never of been in this mess :bunny:

After completing the stormcloak side.

Thats what Ulfirc thinks
He obviously hasn't been listening to his own supporters (not uncommon for a politician)
Common Stormcloak comments are that they are tired of fighting the Empires Wars (ie wars outside Skyrim) and that once the Civil War is over and the Empire thrown out they'll have peace again
No signs of enthusiasm for a war against the Aldmeri Dominion that I could see

They are tired of fighting wars for the empire that do not benefit them(And indeed restrict them instead).

Unless someone wants to challenge Ulfric's claim to the throne at the moot(And given Ulfric's influence at that point, it'd be a rather bad idea if they want to keep living), his word is law in that scenario.

Nonsense
Even a king needs a measure of support to maintain their reign
If Ulfric's reign means more wars I can't see his popularity lasting long

You do realize how much the nords loathe the thalmor, right? Or the historical elf vs man, shezarr vs auri-el conflicts?

A great many of the nords you run into want to kill the thalmor.

Ceciliff2 is right.

however, at the moment the stormcloaks aren't in any position to lead offensives against the thalmor. that's quite a ways in the distance.

of course, even if tullius is killed the empire still doesn't recognize ulfric as high king or skyrim as independent, so the civil war would probably continue.

Whoever said that the thalmor can't reproduce at the same rate as man should be sent an angry letter. They reproduce at the same rate as man but they just kill 9/10 of newborns in their effort for purity. With war taking place its likely that this practice has since been abandoned. If you were a lore master/scholar me then you would know such things.

Keep in mind that the first PGE was imperial propaganda likely designed to paint the altmer in a bad light(They were enemies at the time after all)

This is the same book that states of the altmer, "They have no real names of their own, only combinations of numbers that, when spoken aloud, sound to human ears as such. They feel no real tenderness for one another and have no concept of compassion."

Real Barenziah disagrees on birth rates.(But then again, this isn't a perfect source either)

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/real-barenziah-part-7

"It is her child. Children are few among elves. No woman conceives more than four and that is very rare. Two is the allotted number. Some bear none, some only one. If I take this one from her, she may not conceive again."
