This might seem like an irrelevant concern to most people, and I even have to admit; the box art is not going to decide whether or not I purchase the game. With that said, I have to admit that I think the current proposition for the box art is absolutely hideous. It looks like the cover of a Tony Hawk skateboarding game or something.
I think the light-blue color could go away, and the guy diving across the middle needs to leave too.
I'd consider a darker background color with a multitude of other colors to portray the array of colors evident in the actual gameplay. Presentation is important, and might play into your fanbase quite a bit more than you might have thought. There's a reason I still have my Starcraft 2 box sitting on my desktop where I can constantly see it, lol.
Call me a dork, call me what you want -- but I go out of my way to buy retail copies of games because I like having the box, and the instruction manual. They are my advlt version of "new shiny toys".
So please, consider changing the box art to something darker, something with a little more impending quality; not some skateboarder "dude" flying through the sky.
Cheers.
