Killing Morokei

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 2:07 pm

Alright, now should I lure him to any specific place, such as the way you came in?

Yea just lead him back to the entrance while firing off some shots when you get the chance. Takes awhile but you'll get him and it's pretty safe. Just have to dodge his pet.

If you can get him into the water under where he starts some times he gets stuck there and can't attack. It's risky but you can kite him there with a little luck. Otherwise, just retreat and snipe him. Eventually he will stop and you can sneak back and get a few hits in. I had to backtrack about 1/3 of the way to the start the first time, tedious but effective.

Okay, does he follow you or does he go his own way

It'll be a little hard hence the water is in the corner...

For me I found his weakness to be the fact that he wouldn't chase me when he thought he could hit me with magic. I was on the ground and he was up on a ledge. I got behind a column that was big enough to stop his magic. The angle was the key. He could see me and kept trying to hit me, but the column blocked the attack. I was able to blast him until he died from that position. It is tricky to find the position, and was a little unfair, but it worked well.

EDIT: I did have to strafe some from time to time when he shifted.

As soon as he summons that Atronach, run. If you have summoning scrolls, use them. Also, use lightning to drain his magicka. From what I hear, if you get far enough away from him and go into sneak mode, he will stop attacking you. From there, you can kill him with whatever you want. I forget if he was able to kill me, but I do remember that it was a tough battle.

Yeah the key definitely is to stick with some sort of ranged attack

I fought him on master, he was really easy for me with Drainspell bow, but that's because I have full archery perks as well as Krosis mask and other stuff I've bought to improve bow damage. Btw give that bow a try, it's a contender for best bow in the game, I know the enchant on it is bugged but it's super light weight so you fully draw it in exactly a second, glass bow takes 1.4 seconds to draw back and Daedric even longer. So by the time you've taken two shots with more powerful bows you've shot three from the Drainspell which makes it good for enemies like dragons that can take a good amount of hits, only thing that lets it down is I don't think there's an unenchanted version.

I had much more trouble with the guy you fight getting out of the dungeon, he was a pain in the [censored] for me until I realised the super easy way to kill him.

There's no point in trying to kill a summoned Atronach. Kill him and it will disappear. I just charged him and thunked him in the head repeatedly with a very large hammer.

Oh, and it's counterintuitive, but a little bit of sneak goes a long way on a tank character. Sneak-rolls count as charging for power attacks, and they enable you to control your environment a lot better.

No one's mentioned companions, that might be your best bet. Get a dog and a companion and come back with some buddies to draw fire if you're having that much trouble.

Get behind a pillar, pop slow time, move away from the pillar, burn him down, get back behind pillar, use Equilibrium and a Healing spell and wait for the shout cooldown to wear off, rinse and repeat until he dies.

Easy way to kill him at low levels.

I would use Companions but I honestly don't want to walk all the way back. :\

I will try it, wish me luck...

I have always had such a hard time with this battle, even on novice.
Just save right before it and get ready to reload alot.

I killed Morokei
:D

Yay, I finished the Quest.
I have a feeling there is going to be added on DLC for the College of Winterhold.

Elen, well, I went onto the top of the College of Winterhold, there has to be a reason for that, it looks so open to a new quest.
Plus, when you had the 3 monks take the "eye" or "orb", he said "We will lock it up... for now"

And Buckom, trust me I will NEVER go back there.
It gave me the creeps and was extremely hard.

Well, if you invested in conjuration, you could've revived him as a thrall! Because let's face it, making an undead army for battle alone isn't screwed up enough these days.

My Sneaky Master illusionist, Expert Conjurer and Archer Altmer had no problem with him and his two companions in the last chamber.

His potent ice atronach kept them busy enough for him to be able to pin-cushion them to death at his lasure.

He could back-stab Morokei's companions to death if he had chosen.

I have fought Morokei 5 times, and the ONLY tough battle I had against him was the first one when I was a wuss and playing on novice ( I believe he 3-shot me in that fight). I swear, the Dragon Priests have the worst AI of any enemy in this game. Him, Krosis, and Vokun barely even attacked me. I can name at least 5 enemies in this game that have been tougher.
