I really hate the Companions Thieves Guild and Nazeer of DB

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 9:51 am

Really? These "mercenaries" do things like ... get rid of harmful animals from places...

Yes, but they kill the beasts with honor. Now the DB would kill it and be done with it, whereas the TG would employ some subterfuge, like telling the owner that it isn't really his house, or putting a mirror in front of the beast so it attacks itself.

I don't like most of the Companions, I guess. I wouldn't have joined if not for Kodlak or Skjor probably...and you don't even see them fight. Aela and Ria are cool, Farkas is just broken build wise.. the rest are written with too much [censored] comments. At a certain point, their habit of disrespecting the player, even when they are the harbinger, gets old. They're not that great themselves. I don't get it. It's almost better to not go far in that guild, just so the negative comments from the Companions and the fetching the mead stuff from guards actually makes sense. It's as if the developers want you to play an unimpressive newb who's 3 feet tall and has the weight setting at the skinniest, if you consider all of the lame comments that you get.

"I would have never expected someone like you to be the Harbinger.."

Wtf are you talking about, Vilkas? I'm wearing Ancient Nord Armor and modeled my character to look like the clone of Ysgramor or the Talos statue. You have to be an idiot to think I don't look like the [censored] Harbinger.

In Oblivion I joined the Mages, Fighters and Thieves guild and they were pretty much open to most types.

In Skyrim I hit a wall with most of them. Like I started the Companions one and got to the point where you must become a werewolf, and I didn't want to, so that was over pretty quickly.
Then I started the thieves one, first quest svcked having to frame an innocent stall-holder who I had already helped with a quest, but then it just got worse where I had to go around beating up all the shopkeepers. So that was guild #2 ditched.
Dark Brotherhood, murders, #3 discarded.

Oh well, the Mages was fine. I thought the Bards one would make up for some of the darker guilds, but that was just a one-quest and you're done non-event.

The Thieves Guild of Skyrim is way better than the one in Cyrodiil. They tried to portray themselves as thieves with honor and protectors of the poor. That was a lousy questline.

I thought it was more about the big heist challenge. Places you had to infiltrate and sneak through like the Temple of the Ancestor Moths and the Imperial Palace.
For me the Oblivion master-burglar thing was more fun than Skyrim's mobsters which I found to be a turn-off.

wait wait.......when did this Thieves Guild ever say anything about honor? I know the one in cryodill was all about it and being a robin hood, i rather enjoy Skyrims thieves guild because......well they are a bunch of low life thieves and they dont make you think otherwise. Hell the whole reason why u dont kill on the job is because ur mainly stealing from people and if u kill them....well thats one less target. They are a bunch of liars and cheats BUT they are part of the guild so they have to follow some sort of guidline/rules to keep the guild from falling apart or into chaos which is why the nightinggales were create, they are to police and strike fear into thieves to make sure they arent betraying the guild or the guild rules.

The companions, didnt have a problem with them. They are a bunch of meatheads that love to fight and they take jobs to make money while they fight. They this countrys fighting guild..sorta.

The dark brotherhood, i actually enjoyed the questline, BUT the one thing i was really disappointed in was that my favorite dark brotherhood charector and hands down the funniest toon in the game wont stay around long, my dear poor festus =[

Really? These "mercenaries" do things like clear giants from nearby towns, get rid of harmful animals from places, clear out bandit hideouts, and even save kidnapped civilians. Does that seem like a bunch of ruthless mercenaries? Not all of them want to be part of the "conversion".
You forgot to mention the "Hired Muscle" quests where you go out and beat some poor woman into submission.

Once you get into the the preperations for te big heist, the quests get fun. I still like rebuilding the guild better, personally.

Vikas is all right. He helped me power up my Ebony Blade and even left me a little money in his will
