I really hate the Companions Thieves Guild and Nazeer of DB

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 8:10 pm

If I start slaughtering the Thieves Guild, can I still buy Daedra hearts from that Elf fence at the College of Winterhold?

You can't kill the Thieves Guild. Teach you morally righteous people a lesson  :drag:

You can kill some of them. you can kill most of them actually, just not the quest related ones.

The DarK Brotherhood is perfect as it is , minus Nazeer the Three Dog.

Meh, even the Dark Brotherhood felt lacking. The kills weren't that spectatcular and Astrid is an idiot.

Really? These "mercenaries" do things like clear giants from nearby towns, get rid of harmful animals from places, clear out bandit hideouts, and even save kidnapped civilians. Does that seem like a bunch of ruthless mercenaries? Not all of them want to be part of the "conversion".

They also tell you to kill people who escaped jail and they "don't care what his crime was", just to kill them. And the mark doesn't attack you unless you attack first.

Mercenary scum. Kill the Silver Hand? At least the Silver Hand is trying to protect Skyrim from a bunch of over-sized feral dogs.

Agree with everything excpet the companions. They are the definition of viking heroes. Mead, stories, battle, glory and huge fireplaces with roasted boar and other big game. What else coud you possibly want. Only problem is the one [censored], Stone-fist something who smack talks you for no reason even after you prove your worth (but I killed her with my bare hands!) All in all, thet're awesome, plus you get to be a werewolf.

Viking heroes are not mercenaries. Vikings fight to gain favor of their Gods, build ships, and value silver.

Playing as a Daedra worshipping adventurer is technically more "Viking" than worshing a pack of over-glorified mercenaries.

Also the silver-hand are a bunch of punk- ass bandits hiding behind a "righteous" cause. I've seen them attack regular innocent NPCs and don't get me started on the sick experiments they're condcuting in their hideouts. Worse than silent hill. I enjoyed ripping them apart and watching them cover in fear when I shape-shifted into my feral form. Don't get why you're defending them.

You my friend need to do some research on vikings. They raided first and foremost to pillage!

I know that, just because I don't mention it doesn't mean I am ignorant of it.

The Vikings even extorted the French.

"Give us a bunch of silver and we will stop raiding you." - Vikings

"OK" - The French

And then they come back later to raid them again.

Well you just said they fight for the favor of their Gods, build ships and value silver. I'm sure they value other precious metals even more. Besides the Companions dilike silver because they're werevolwes. BTW if they raid to pil;lage then they're worse than mercenaries, they're just common outlaws.

You really know nothing about Norseman.

They valued silver higher than anything. And Norse Gods favor those who do battle.

Agreed, would've loved some more heroic viking-ness! Never tried the college though.

Theives with honor does fit the theives guild- they say "we are about the profit" and the god is just affecting their luck and all, but the whole questline is nothing of profit(only radiant is) and when you confront mercer- even the "profit" option response leads to the same thing.

They do favor those who do battle. As for the silver this is new to me so I stand corrected. But I already mentioned why the companions dislike silver. Moreover, they don't worship Ysgramor they just honor him. They either worship Hircine, of the Nordic pantheon, particularly Shor.

BTW, can you give me the link or book title that says they valued silver more, because I can find nothing of the sort on the net.

There is still very little "honor" in what they do. They don't protect the beggars and the most honorable thing they have is "don't kill people on the job" Which, is of course, not really enforced most of the time. It's about money and making cetain things right again....but both profit the guild.

I find not killing people, just stealing cowardly and dishonourable. Gotta make it a point to exterminate them  .

I haven’t done all the DB quest but so far I don’t really like any of them, the vampire girl is annoying too.
Maybe you’re thinking of how the Thieves Guild was in Oblivion. The thieves guild in Skyrim are not honourable nor do they claim to be. Everything is for profit. Even their reason for not killing anyone is not out of honour, its more because it complicates things and is a pain in the ass to cover up.

Not everything they do is quite so honourable. They also take jobs like beating [censored] out of someone to “settle an argument”. So basically being a thug for hire.

The Thieves with Honor was crap from the beginning. It's a LOLZ. There is no honor among thieves. It's essentially an organized crime family run by Maven Black-Briar. A crime family reflects the code of honor of the one at the top. I can fence stuff to the Khajiit. Still I got far enough to off Mercer and get the Skeleton Key.

The Dark Brotherhood is not the DB of old. It too is run by Maven Black-Briar. Astrid thinks she's in charge, but Maven pulls the strings. You're dangerous. The Night Mother is a return to the old ways. I really enjoyed this story line. Babette is very old. She is no child. She had the misfortune of being bitten when she was a child. My guess is that she gets to exterminate pedophiles. Most of the DB is... er was a bunch of sick [censored]s. But now since I'm running the show there it's more like the mafia. It's family.

The Companions? I don't mind them so much. They're just a mercenary band. Be careful in your dealings with them because they are part of the GUARD faction -- and I believe that's global. I've just done enough to become a werewolf. Being disease-free is a nice bonus. So with them I fetch the mead. And if you call me a feral dog, I'll rip your lungs out.

Ahooooo werewolves of Whiterun.

when does the guild even pretend it has any honor? the nightngales might but they are a totally different faction
I agree entirely. The thieves guild is kinda crappy when you take a step back from it all. The only reason I am doing anything with them is to get the achievement and get somebody to take my stolen stuff. Once I get my Speech level up, GOODBYE THIEVES GUILD!!! Although I do like kind of what they did with the nightingales. They took thieves and gave them a group effort to serve a somewhat higher goal. And they gave them some freakin wicked armor

i dont like the nightngales at all (although they do have a good sense of stlye i'll give them that), i would prefer a cut-throat group of thives and rogues (which is sorta what we got, but they were done poorly and got a little too god worshippy near the end)
