You can cure it if you really want to. So it just depends on if you want to do it or not. IMO it felt really gimmicky so I just went ahead and cured myself.

Please do not post Spoilers in General.

People come to General to learn about the game without learning about what happens in the game. If they want to know about what happens, that is what the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers section is for.

Do not use quest details or location specific details related to quests/puzzles/NPCs in your posts in this section. General is for discussing gameplay and mechanics. General topics about the the game include but are not limited to races, items and their use, magic, enchanting, skills, character builds, criticism, praise, funny random things that happen, places from an esthetic standpoint and and other general topics.

Use the Spoilers Section if you have to post quest details or other spoilers or a thread about the same. This also includes console commands, and character build exploits.

I will move this now.

Exactly, it isn't permanent, and it's an excellent little story.

Well the only real downside to becoming a werewolf is you no longer gain the rested bonus when you sleep however even if you dont use the werewolf form I think that the 100% disease resistance more than makes up for it, unless you want to become a Vampire for whatever reason. Also it should be noted that you cannot be a vampire and a werewolf at the same time, if you are a vampire before you become a werewolf becoming a werewolf will cure you of Vampirisim.

Although it can be cured the guards will always stay stupid things about you afterwards like "you have hair growing out of your ears" which gets a bit annoying. The cure works but all the dialogue still assumes you are a werewolf.

I didn't like it either, but I eventually did it, got ALL the witches to collect heads, and the second after finishing the quest line, I re-activated the fire with another head and bang I was cured. I was "afflicted" for a minimum time and I was careful to avoid the cursed ring of Hircine while I was.

The advantages of doing the quest line though are extensive, if you do it early. There is the skyforged steel weapons, the ability eventually to reforge draugr weapons, a good source for companions if you're inclined that way, and there is Ysgramor's axe as a potential player weapon. Later on, especially if you are smithing, some of these benefits lose their shine. On the whole I'm glad I did the quest line. I'm still doing radiant quests to see if I can cure some of the others, but so far no luck.

If you keep a witch's head in your inventory and then approach one of the leaders for radiant quests (twice), you will get the option to cure them. I do believe this quest is buggy though, so save before you do anything.

Best to go to Vilkas or Farkas with the head in your inventory, do the quest they give you, then return (still keeping the head in your inventory) - this 'should' trigger the Purity quest which will allow you to cure the brothers.

Also, if you do encounter bugginess and you are on a PC, there is a console command to fix it.

So basically i can do the quest and whenever i want just go slay a witch get her head and come back to the flame and get cured?? is that how it is? ..I think ill keep being a werewolf and just keep the lover's stone as active effect that way im getting the same effects without the need of sleeping and on the other hand i have the beast blood in me....

It is very worth it. Being a werewolf is awesome.
You can cure yourself, but why would you.
You don't get resting bonus' but they don't matter anyway.
That's the only thing you don't get as a werewolf. Nothign else.

There are no drawbacks and you can kill or assasinate people as a werewolf without getting a bounty because they don't know it's you.
Don't get seen changing, charge in, kill the target, run away out of the town, etc, keep running till you are not in danger then wait to change back were you can't be seen.
