I can't get into the strip ...

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:36 pm

I'm not having a problem with loading or freezing, but I am locked out of the strip. It says I need a key to enter. I was in the process of moving all of my stuff to my new house and now it won't let me in. What is Mr. House robbing me? The only thing I can think that I did that may cause a problem was I brought Ed-E with me for the first time to the Strip. Does the strip not like Ed-E(Enclave)? I really don't feel like loading up a save from earlier today unless I know what I did to cause this issue. Can anyone explain why this is happening or has happened?

If your level is high enough, go into sneak mode and get kinda far away from the securitrons. After that, you can actually sneak critical kill one of them without having the rest attack you. Loot the body of the securitron and you'll get a key to get back into the strip. Also if your NCR rep is high enough, you can just take the monorail in from Fort McCarren.

No sh@t. I got into the Strip just fine before patch 1.01. Now I get the black death screen of limbo every time I attempt to load it.

I think I've completed almost all of the side quests already and now I'm just waiting till I can get in the Strip,... have the same issue with the black screen and music.. must try wearing the cowboy hat tho, as deleting and reinstalling game data/patch didn't work.. even previous save games will crash the moment I exit the tops casino (after getting ambushed by Benny again) and head into the part where the lucky 38 and Gomorrah is.. I found it's ok if I kept 'looking' at the lucky 38,.. but the moment I look across to the Gomorrah,.. crash.. :|

You know, the old cowboy hat actually worked! It's weird, but at least I can carry on with the main quests now! - Who care's if Rex Growls at me all the time for wearing a hat... :)

I was able to use the monorail, unfortunately I did not know it was even there until I came here(well I knew because I defused the bomb but didn't put 2 and 2 together). Luckily I still am not having any freezing or black screen issues with the strip. I will try to remember the hat trick just in case. Thanks for the tips. -

Basically I accepted the quest from the ambassador for the NCR in the strip, I left and did the quest, on the way back to see him my game seems to freeze every single time I enter the strip by lucky 38.

It was fine until the patch was sent out ... does this mean ill have to wait for a new patch or adjust settings or restart? ... for the 2nd time?

Thanks to anyone who can belp.

Strip freezes when loading... I tried the tip from a previous post (wearing the Old Cowboy Hat) and its seems to work just fine. I have had no problem entering the area many times now. The old cowboy hat can be purchased from vendors from time to time. It must then have something to do with an article of clothing. I used to wear the berret (per +1, crit. chance +5) but dumped it for the old cowboy hat so as to continue the game. (per +1)
