My Rant about Skyrim: Non-Killable NPCs

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 9:13 pm

On the slight topic of dragons, in Dawnstar a dragon attacked immediately as I got there on my first play through (just after meeting the Greybeards) and none of the Citizens went inside, they all started attacking the dragon! And this is what I don't get... Children can't die, but a pregnant Redguard can be slaughtered by a huge dragon? Kinda made me wonder.

Children not only can't die, they have super powers. Immune to everything, don't sleep and can see through walls. Sneaking through a house with kids is a [censored].

Yup kill everyone, then complain that none of the quests are working.

Message pop up? Then you complain about a message popping up everytime you kill an important NPC. Then having to reload the game.

Respawning NPCs? Then you complain about NPCs coming back to life after you kill them.

I would prefer respawning NPCs. At least they can't act as witnesses. I mean, after murdering all the witnesses only to find that this little bugger here or that little brat of a child has witnessed your crime and CANNOT BE KILLED...
At least treat them as dead for awhile, or make them lose their aggro on you.

Notice that in new vegas you could kill anyone, and it would affect the game world and plot. The fact that I was not allowed to beat the information i wanted out of Brynjolf or Vex, or shut down the thieves guild once I was done with them was upsetting.

Simple solution to having NPCs die to dragons is have them run away instead of leaping into combat.
