Boethiah's Calling & mini rant

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:46 pm

So I couldn't get House of Horrors off my journal without helping Molag Bal and now it turns out I won't be able to get rid of Boethiah's calling without sacrificing someone? Really?

How the heck could I know fending off that attack from that random cultist would mean I have yet another quest I can't fail/complete in a 'good guy' sense?

I know that I can just leave it all be, not do the quests I don't want to, but it's pretty annoying that I don't have the choice to get rid of them in a proper manner. Just like I can't tell Jaree in Solitude to get lost and I can't tell the guards about his plan.

Is this oversight or do the story writers WANT me to do these quests?

They probably just didn't think that having quests sit in our journal would bug us as much as it does. 'Abandon Quest' button ftw.

I think all "evil" quests should have a "good" way of completing them and vice versa.

And what would be the "good" solution to the knowledge that the god of deceit and murder has a temple and would be pleased when you trick someone to follow you and kill him there?

The traditional way of destroying a god is killing all its followers, you already decided that this is evil when you had qualms to execute a blasphemous high priest of Boethiah in "House of Horrors". Destroying the temple would be an option, but you'd still have to murder all of Boethiah's followers and that display of excessive blood lust might actually please Boethiah.

Some of them do, but you lose out on the reward.
Example: Mehrunes Dagon's quest.

Yeps, I decided to destroy the cult by killing all of its followers. Turned out Boethia planned to make you do that all along if you would've joined the cult. So it doesn't really matter, the result is the same: you end up with "bring a follower to Boethia's sacrificial altar" in your diary.

Damn, you must've not gone back to the House of Horrors thread after I posted.

I ran into the same problem but think about this. Boethiah's priest or whatever is already evil for worshiping a deadric lord so killing them wouldn't really be all that bad and you as a good guy getting all the dangerous deadric artifacts isn't so bad because if you weren't the champion someone else would be so yes your doing evil things but your doing them to keep other people safe and keeping dangerous deadric artifacts out of the hands of true evil.

When I entered the "House of horrors" in Markarth with the Vigil of Stendar and realized that I had to kill an innocent man, I just reloaded a save just before talking to the man and walked away. I don't like these quests with my good character right now.
