I understand the appeal of FPV...
I hate 1stPV most of the time. It's not a realistic view - it's like you're driving an armored vehicle with a small rectangular cut-out through which you look. 3rdPV gives a more realistic FOV. Plus by being able to see the back of the character you get a better simulation of the
hair standing up on the back of your neck phenomenon if someone or something comes up behind you.

Now, I will use 1stPV in narrow hallways in Skyrim (and Fallout 3), but if I have only one choice: it's 3rdPV.
I often forget to switch my gear based on the situation. Why am I taking so much damage? Oh right, I'm not wearing my Ebony Boots of Frost Abatement/Necklace of Shock Suppresion.
I have so many outfits and accessories (especially on my chick), but I'm pretty good about keeping the correct ones on. The 3rdPV helps, but I also had to establish a routine that I stick to pretty well now.
