Dye

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:30 pm

I think other than a Loom there could be a Dye Pot or Dye Vat. It could be something simalar to this: http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/164823-AA.shtml?lnav=techniques_tubdye.html that's how Cotton and other Celeose fibers are dyed. For Silks and other proteins: http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/9236231-AA.shtml?lnav=dyes.html
Dyes for leather http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/department/leather-dye/leather-dye.aspx you kind of swab this on leather with a q-tip like utensil
As for metal it would be simalar to something you paint on etc.

And for making fabric they can use this as a reference: http://www.weavingworks.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=88
First you comb that dirty fiber then you spin it into thread/yarn and then you add it to a loom or you crochet it into something nice.

Patterns can be found then learnt or created depending on knowledge. Patternmaking would be awesome in creating wonderful new desings either based on old ones or just something new!

Bethesda can also introduce some WONDERFUL fabric painting, that would be awesome!

This.

Also you should be able to dischant ANYTHING. Unique armors (even if the enchantment isn't learnable), so you can put what you want on any armor.
yeah I agree but seeing as there's not even good looking unenchanted robes and one unenchanted hood in skyrim I think Beth wouldn't be able to do it seems like they leave that stuff to mods or it's a oversight

I guess they didn't think of it at the time, but most people play in first person anyways.

I don't know about that. I switch from first to third person depending on the situation. If they really going to make the first DLC pay only then I'm going to scold them for sure. Im playing ps3 so I think not only the pc players should benefit from great downloads. On topic: Dye is something they really should add to the game. It would optimize your character by alot.

Yeah, I was screwing around. While it may be fun, and I wouldn't put it past Bethesda to add it in a DLC or expansion, I'm not sure if they will.

How much you want to bet EVERYBODY would be wearing black.

I think a dying system could easily be done as a mod. Once the creation kit comes out, I'm sure different colors of armor sets will be around.

Thats the thing, CK will only be available for PC players. Just like the Oblivion castle was only available fo 360 players (maybe PC too I don't know for sure). Only thing I know that I wasn't able to get the castle in Oblivion. I want dye implemented for all console users, not only pc for instance.

No Dye DLC.

If it was included in an expansion fine otherwise no. I would not like anything outlandish like lime green or hot neon pink or something like that.

Then I guess you are not far from the only one. So far as I know anyone would like to optimize their character by adding colors they want on armor or weapons. I'm not saying the armor they created in Skyrim is ugly, I actually like Glass armor for example but I would think it be totally awesome if I could add my own colors to it.

almost everyone. I would be wearing a mix of purple and violets myself. Or even give us the option to MAKE our own dye!!! Dye has been traditionally made from petals of flowers as well as seashells and minerals from mining!

Well, ever seen that deep blue that is traditional for Sami clothing?
Guess what?
That's piss. Really, I mean it. And sometimes I wonder how my folks figured out they should piss on their clothing.

Anyways, dyeable gear would be cool. So many armour types look so vastly different from each other. If they at least had the same colour it would open for better customination.
Think the awesome Dwemer cuirass/leggings with Nordic Steel gauntlets. I think it could be cool if they had the same colour.

Dying metal?

Wut.

Yep. It's a process called "Bluing", although I probably have it spelled wrong. The process, in a nutshell, if using a particular type of liquid, like Oil, for example, heating the piece of metal up and dipping it in the oil to cool it off. This process absorbs to liquid and, essentially, changes the color.

When I think of itm it is also possible with gilding and such to "colour" gear. A thin layer of silver for example, or in this case metals like Orichinalum and Malachite could be used.

Do not get me wrong I am a big advocate for customization.
I just do not want a penny pinching DLC.
I would like something like that included in an expansion pack. Expansions add far more than one tiny feature.
