Bandits and Sabre Cats should not be easier than the final b

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 4:57 am

Big fan of the game, played on master difficulty.
In the early stages of the game, it was pretty hard. A sabre cat would completely annihilate me. Bandit caves would be extremely tough as well, sometimes impossible without the help of a companion. I fought this bandit leader at the early stages and he completely [censored] me when I tried fighting him with my sword. I had to resort to shooting him with my bow and then running away to hide, it took me like ten to 15 minutes to kill the guy.
But the final boss was really way to easy. Even the first time you fight him is not challenging enough. He killed me a couple times but then I defeated him fairly easily on the third try. When you're playing the game on the toughest difficulty setting, it should be harder. I grant you that my guy was pretty damn powerful when I finally beat Alduin, about level 50. But he is the final boss, he should be hard! Seems like a big time missed opportunity. I love the elder scrolls series, played most of the games even daggerfall. Skyrim kind of ended on a whimper.

May i ask how you get any enjoyment anyway by resorting to shooting someone with a bow a hundred times while running away? If thats your idea of fun then theres many more disappointments you'll encounter in the ES seriies

You can control your experience by choosing appropriate armor and weapon and magic resistance level. It's pretty hard for a game developer to read a player's mind and magically adjust the difficulty just right so that everyone can have the best experience. Maybe for some players, it ruins the game to die even once. Maybe for some players dying once in a while is good. Maybe for some players, it's not acceptable unless they die 100 times in a row until they finally figure out how to beat the boss.

Err, you're level 50.... did you beat him simply because you are level 50... or did you incoporate things you had learned on you way to level 50 in order to beat him? I see no problem with a level 50 char handling the main boss like a red headed step child (no offense to red heads)

May I ask why low level bandits and sabre cats SHOULDN'T be easier than the final boss? It seems to me that they should, being that one's the World Eater, and the others... aren't.

Also, you do realize it's a bit of a logical fallacy to argue that these enemies that were destroying early in the game before you leveled up are harder than an enemy you fight after you have leveled up. If you fought these enemies at the same level you fought Alduin at, you would find them to be easier than said dragon. But you're essentially arguing that it's harder to fight giants at level one than it is to fight Alduin at level 81 after you've put perks to augment your damage and you're wearing super armor. It's a flawed argument.

He's saying that his experience with those 2 on master difficulty is hard compared to fighting Alduin.

Well, of course Alduin is easy..you have a shout that takes away what makes him so deadly.

I personally find Sabre cats and Bears were tougher than Alduin. So in the end the whole thing is flawed and I'm waiting on a modder to patch this aspect. I believe for Oblivion there were many of these patches like Obsuro (OOO) and other such mods. Been awhile so I don't remember the names. But it will happen, if not already has happened.

The first time one of my char's fought Alduin she was at lvl 17, by the time of the final battle with him she was at lvl 20 ( pure warrior). It was a truely epic battle that lasted almost an hour, It probably helped his cause that I kept forgetting to use Dragonrend. The second time I went through the MQ, that char was at lvl 24 ( battlemage) when he fought Alduin, I didn't forget Dragonrend and I was using a summon Dremora staff. It was a 10 minute fight, if that.

What I'm saying is alot of the fights that are easy are because of character perk's and playstyle. Not to mention that Dragonrend just totally makes any dragon much easier to kill. ( easier than it would have been otherwise)

Well you are dragonborn and not banditborn or sabrecatborn.

I don't understand how that means it wasn't a challenge.
Did you expect him to kill you harder?

Starts game> Starts weak > Enemies are tough for lack of power

End game > Now your Powerful > Enemies die with ease

@Ingway the cunning & @OP of thread

First off.. that's not why Alduin is so weak. The reason Alduin is so weak is because he is scaled to the players level. Technically, you could kill him at Level 1, if possible.

Second off... I totally agree with the motive of this thread. I was killed by Alduin ONCE, because I was unprepared... In the times I've fought Sabre Cats, I've died maybe.. 12-13 times?

It's very unbalanced. Bethesda can make a good, balanced game, but they CAN'T make a good boss. Ever.

Fallout 3 boss. Easier than a Mole Rat.

Fallout: NV boss. You could talk your way out of it.

Skyrim Boss. Died in 4 hits with my dawnbreaker.

...on master difficulty.
...
He killed me a couple times...
Apparently it's not that easy then.

I don't play Dead is Dead, but I feel a slight sense of failure when I die and think to myself: well, the game should be over now. Because of this I refuse to play on the highest difficulty level because if it takes me 5 times to kill a certain mob and I've only succeeded because I've memorized their movement patterns that's not a success to me and tells me I have no business playing on that particular difficulty level.

(no offense to red heads)
What about step-children?

...I kept forgetting to use Dragonrend.
Worst Dragonborn ever!

I'll have to avoid using Dragonrend in my next end battle with Alduin. Sounds like fun.
