If you're not enjoying Skyrim, here's what you're doing wron

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:12 am

I enjoyed reading the OP's post and I loved the title. I even got a few things out of the suggestions. I needed to sell off a bunch of my junk. It was quite liberating.
I read it as suggestions and ideas. Some I took to heart and others I did not. I don't understand why others attacked.

It was more the 'here's what you're doing wrong' bit.

I, for one, am glad that you posted. You have revealed another way to enjoy the game. Bravo!!!

All Elderscrolls games are very similar. It is whatever works for the individual player.

Enjoy the game.

To all the other rude commentors, if it doesn't work for you why are you bashing the OP? I don't get that. He has his way of playing and decided to share it with others who might benefit from it.

correction, it was his way of playing and he decided to tell everybody else that they were playing wrong. I have no issue with him coming here and suggestion some ways to play that offer a different experience that might help players who find the game lacking enjoy it, I do have a problem with it being presented as "this is fun, if you do anything else it is not fun".

Yep. It's the main reason I stay out of "General".
To be honest I'm seriously considering staying out of General in future; to be honest it's such a downer, and everyone's just so intense. It doesn't bring out my best side!! :D

There is no way to "do it wrong" when playing Skyrim. The only wrong thing is people telling other people they're "doing it wrong."
This
You either love the game or you don t and telling people that the way they play is wrong is very wrong
You can give me advice but this is stillMY game and i will play it MY way

Same here. I just stayed away from this forum because I was afraid of spoilers. Now that I've been playing for awhile, I can generally spot the spoilers that I want to avoid.

Stay far away from the Elder Scrolls Online forum. I read one thread in that forum and I could feel my whole body begin to tense up in anger. It reminded me of times I've read the World of Warcraft General Discussion forum (which the arrogant, unperceptive attitude of the OP in this thread reminds me of also).

Advice well taken, but you're (now) preaching to the converted PW, I had a poke about in there earlier on today - it's a distinctly hysterical and unpleasant place to be so yeah I think I'll strike that off my "To Visit" list...

I guess picturing Peter Sellers while reading the original post allowed me to not see it as demanding we do it his way. Or at least not take it too seriously. Oh well. It gave me some ideas.

I also poked around in the ES:O forum and got paranoid, so I left. :)

To the OP, well written! I am guity of a few enjoyment-robbing activities myself. I hoard stuff. (in the game, NOT in real life!) Hell, I've been carrying around a "shiv" for quite a while after getting out of the prison in Markarth. I'm also guilty of trying to go head-to-head combat with my stealthy thief character and getting my butt handed to me nearly every time.

I have 3 (one enchanted with Soul Trap). I keep hoping that in a patch or expansion Bethesda will add the ability to improve them.

I think the OP made some good suggestions and for the most part was well meaning on even those things that got ppl up in arms. I do like reading how other ppl play and think. Somethings I add to my own play style, others while they sound good to me, I end up dropping over a period of time.

The one thing I really love about these forums is the help and advice that you can get, sometimes just by reading, never even haveing to ask a question. No one really seems to mind shareing their ideas or tips. To me this is a good thing. I do read general, much more than I post, but I will agree it can be rather...ummm nerve racking. Thing is the ppl that just picked up the game will go their looking for help and what they don't need is only the negative ppl answering them. I left a forum after posting their for 15 yrs because most of the "old" ppl had already left and only the "new" ppl were left and they tended to get ugly, I did stick with it for months after I wanted to leave though.

I don't agree with you, but cool reference. Dr. Strangelove is a great film.

I made a few mistakes regarding my given advice for spellsword/battlemage builds and also left a few things out.

Updating OP.

I'll admit, I have a lot of expensive things in my house that I don't need, but isn't that what being filthy rich is all about? :foodndrink:

Yes! Go ahead and decorate you're house with things that you wont use. I was just making a point about; don't complain about poverty if you didn't bother yourself with picking things up or using things you never use.
