Horrific Beast in Frostflow Lighthouse

When I have a character who can cast Flaming Familiar, I do not mind a few Chaurus that I can only hear.

Closest thing to a real boss in this game. I think there should be special bandit chiefs that are 2x bigger. Like a giant Orc warlord. I think some drouger bosses are scaled bigger.

The only times I've bothered to kill the Reaper, I used my very high Sneak score to silently use small leaps to get to a place where the Reaper couldn't reach me. Then almost 30 arrows later, it died.

It's a strong boss, one hit kills you a lot.

One of the strongest enemies in the game.

I reckon they should go bigger and have giant frostbite spider in Falkreath woods named Aragog.
Ha! Harry Potter refernece. and while there at it, have it guarding a staff called the Elder Staff, or whatever the name that wand had in Harry Potter.

No, just no. ????

Ok imagine this, you're traisping through a mossy cave, it's dark as hell and you keep feeling web strands brush against your arms as you walk through the fronds. Despite the darkness, you think you can see the glint of rapturous eyes flash in the gloom. You can hear a slight lisping, like something heavy and ungainly being dragged along the floor or across the wall. You ignore it and continue, and eventually the hollow breaks out into a huge cavern, but still the darkness is all around you.

But there! Something breaks it! A shaft of moonlight appears from unfathomable heights at the roof of the cavern.

And so too, the beast that had been smothering it. A spider the size of a mammoth descends from the ceiling, it's colossal bristly legs splaying out one by one like the fingers of some immense dark hand. Eyes the size of shields regard you with a cold, calculating stare that tells of an intelligence that should not in all realms exist.

Now tell me that wouldn't be cool ;)

Closest thing to a real boss in this game.

Fight a Dragon Priest on Master and with no magical defense.... Very hard thing to do since their spells does around 250-300 damage...

I've heard so many people (not only on this thread) complain about this "Reaper" and how challenging it was. My question is, what level were you on when you faced it? I'm not trying to sound like an arrogant dike here, but I killed that pansy bug with one ice spear from across the chamber. I was so ready for the big battle that I'd read so much about. I stocked up on healing and magika potions just to be sure. I was very disappointed.

I've discovered this location but for the life of me can't explain why I never went inside haha.

Reading this thread, I decided to go through with my lv29 female Orc wearing heavy armor, two handed axe with high sneak and bow. I know I would have gotten pretty messed up on a lower lv but wow.

you guys are right. The lighthouse is creepy. The bodies and the notes. the noises. Though I was expecting a bigger boss. I took it down with a few blows.

On the topic of spiders, I've played most caverns and what not to know where the big ones drop from the ceiling. I sniped one the other day, killed it in one arrow shot and watched its corpse fall to the cavern floor. Now that was cool. Would have been cooler if it exploded on impact with a gush of blood and guts. lol

Same, I went through a web infested cave once. I watched the ceiling the entire time, watching for a spider to inevitably drop down - Nothing. So I'm like alright, no big spiders here I guess. Next thing I know it lands right on top of me, which I pretty much sounded like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbjuCMKf3Bk&t=3m19s

And sadly I don't have any epic stories fighting the Reaper. I seen the huge group of chaurus in the previous room and decided to haul ass through, which led me into the reaper, so I quickly ran back out lol.

that whole quest does wonders for us alchemists.
A near infinite stock of Chaurus Eggs, along with a ton of other ingredients.
Falmer are always teeming with them too.
First time ever i was actually overencumbered (spellfail) by nothing but alchemy ingredients...

To be fair, I was wearing only unsmithed fur armour at the time (have no idea why, I think my reasoning was it was cold up near the lighthouse, my character needs to be warm).

I tried this again the other day, see if I could do anything differently, with just my bow and arrow character (even weaker than my other one)

I tried staying on that ledge just before the Big Chaurus Momma cave, so I could just shoot it down from there from safety and the monster CRAWLED UP IT. It was like that watcher-in-the-water scene from lord of the rings!

Almost as frightening as the first time, wish I could've videoed it haha. I was there all smug, making a pincushion of it when suddenly it jumps up and is on the same level. Luckily, though it can crawl up, it can't get through the narrow ice corridor so I just shot it down. It was just one of those moments where you pause the game and think 'oh [censored], I'm dead now' like when you pause it between a bandit swinging at you :')

Yeah. Under Bravil/Tower dungeon. Remember, during the Thieves Guild Questline you gotta steal an arrow head? Well... within that dungeon there was a water section that was very very deep... Lucky, I play as Argonian!

Wasn't there a giant mudcrab in Oblivion too? Don't remember where it was located though.

Unless you have some magic enhancement mod or is playing novice difficulty, that is not possible.

A reaper has 371 health.

Icy spear has 60 damage base, 90 damage augmented. Double cast deals 198 damage. You will need two hits.

My orc just went through there today. Level 18 in fur armor. It was very tense (no reloads for this guy). He only stopped in to warm up on the way to Mzinchaleft. Now he’s going to need a re-stocking trip before he continues.

I like the way this quest builds the tension right up to the “you’re screwed” moment. Then there’s a nice reward for paying attention.

I didn't even know about the reward but happened across it by accident when I decided to see what was up stairs after exploring the cavern.

You're right, I really appreciate the little things in the game that reward people for reading the journals/paying attention. Rather than just "Follow arrow! KILL! LOOT! Follow arrow!

Fight a Dragon Priest on Master and with no magical defense.... Very hard thing to do since their spells does around 250-300 damage...

How about I play the game with only my toes; every action's a boss battle! I would demand a trophy for successfully decorating my house.
