A second chance of Destroying the Dark brotherhood

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:17 am

For the thieves guild, i came up with an idea of being a MOLE in their guild.
Maybe if you, mjoll and those fobs in mistveil keep come up with a plan to get YOU into the thieves guild, then destroying them from inside. Then, during the commotion a surprise raid from the jarl's men will happen.
Given the fact that Astrid doesnt care a damn about Maven and didnt do Maven's request, maven's dark brotherhood protection is a LIE. If somehow Jarl laila could be convinced to capture Maven, the thieves guild is doomed.

For the DB, i agree there should be a second chance, but lets say you joined them and killed some innocents already before betraying them to commander Maro, Maro may in the end betray you and capture you, using the reason 'you are a DB too'.

Because Maven Black-Briar controls the city of Riften, any attempt to raid the guild would fail because she'd tip them off. They'd scatter and regroup again later.
Secondly, you need evidence you can't kill someone because you suspect they are members of the thieves guild you need proof. Hanging around in the The Ragged Flagon means nothing, its a bar and open to the public. The actual guild hall is behind a secret entrance. We are also talking about thieves not murderers. The guild is more or less dead before the PC shows up wiping them out just leaves room for another organization to take its place the following day.

The Dark Brotherhood are all killers, murder is a requirement to join the organization. So simply raiding the sanctuary and killing everyone inside is justified. They also have no one to warn them of their impending doom.

Murdering a thief isn't justified? Tell that to the guard that tries to kill you after you steal a sweetroll! They even make fun of you! "Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll?" If you actually do it, they'll battle you to the death!

Mmmph, basically the questlines in TES need more choices to spice them up :) Thats one thing i find lacking in the game, along with more coherent storylines. The college of winterhold questline was simply [censored].

Sounds good. Like my request for the DB, I still want to be able to destroy the Thieves Guild even if you have joined them.

That would be a horrible way to explain things IMO
Absolutely. You have to remember that regardless of how creative the devs are the legal and marketing depts have the final say on what gets released. The devs may want the DB to have run it's course and become extinct, but if it affects profits the marketing dept will make them resurrect the DB by any means necessary.

I think destroying the DB from within could have some very good quests to do so. The idea of having to be very secretive about it can make for some tense moments i feel. Too bad you've only got the one option.... Maybe they will change that some day. I can only hope!

I agree, and it would also be interesting to see what horrible situations it would force your character to, e.g. torture or kill people against your character's will.

I hope Bethesda actually reads this forum so they can consider our ideas...
