Poisoner Build

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:15 pm

One really neat thing about Skyrim is how I've had to re-learn the character building system. It used to be simply a matter of picking major and minor skills and going from there. But I've figured out that, in Skyrim, it's all about perk goals. So here's my newest build: the Poisoner.

Alchemy: Concentrated Poison. 4 Perks, minimum value 60
Pickpocket: Poisoned. 3 Perks, minimum value 40
Sneak: 1 rank of Stealth (makes the approach easier)
Lockpicking: Apprentice Locks. 2 perks, minimum value 25 (Makes getting at the target easier)

Build complete at level 10. Train Alchemy to 60, Pickpocket to 40, Lockpicking to 25, and grab a rank of Stealth. Advance further through Sneak and One-Handed (focusing on damage enhancement) past level 10. The idea is to open combat by slipping a potion on them, then backstab with a poisoned blade, if necessary.

This makes me want to re-play my existing Poisoner, focusing less on bounty hunting for that initial gold boost and more on criminal activity.

Are there any additional poison perks I'm missing from other trees?

Looks like a fun variant on the Assassin archetype!

Here's a question: do you see Stamina being particularly useful to this character? Maybe I'd want to focus on leveling Stamina primarily, with Health leveling up at half the rate (leave magic alone), to ensure that, when necessary, I can get the twin-bladed power-attacks off quickly, when necessary.

If you are going for dual wield, then yeah, you will need some stamina. As you are focusing on sneak attacks and poison, you should be able to kill most enemies before your low health becomes much of a problem.

Hmm, bethesda should make potions flingable. :D Imagine, you got this uber potion of damage health , and you fling it at a dragon.

Seems un "elder scrolls-ish" though, haha :D

Don't forget enchanted gear! With enchanted gear you can make poisons that could kill Mammoths in a single hit! I can't tell you how funny it is to make an over powering damage health/ paralysis potion and slip it into someones pocket when they are asleep. Sometimes though it sorta breaks the body of the character and they just deform and twist into a mess. Happened when I put one in the pocket of the guard captains son.
