Why is Skyrim PC an obvious port from console?

You yelled about advanced keybinding ability.

This, and other things.

Also, "Console players are so smug" tends to insult console players. Don't pretend you don't know what you're doing and get off the forums. You have no place here.

You yelled about advanced keybinding ability.

nitpicking aside his point still stands and that is a "issue" luckily I have the ability to set keys on my mouse to match the key binds that you cannot change but not everyone has that luxury.

As for the rest of the post he has various constructive reasons that are present in the game today.

But anyways OP, I know this is the "meme" of the forums but mods and with one in general SkyUI it is the only way I can play with a K/M in Skyrim because of the fantastic UI that has been created.

Haha you are so, so so wrong. Do you have any idea how a game is made? If you knew you would realise it is not so simple to 'port' a game.
In essense considering the different formats that each platform requires, it is 'almost' like writing a completly new game with the same ideas and graphics, its an exageration but you get the picture.

Also may the enchanted ban-hammer of Sheogoraths beard smite the unworthy troll.
I know, work as an developer and know that even converting simple programs from VB6 to .NET is a lots of work.

This is why I find the menus on the Skyrim PC version so annoying, more so then you have to work to hit the right one in an dialogue. No the mouse does not work right, the arrows regularly jump over selections. Fixing it so arrow down or s jumped one step down and not two is not much work.

Inconsequential. Disagreeing with your mother doesn't mean that I have to call her an idiot, and not liking a feature of a game's PC version does not allow someone to disregard the forum rules and make inflaming, insulting comments.

For that matter, it does not follow that the game's features on PC necessarily are the way they are because of consoles, whether you're talking about UI or anything else.

Furthermore, even if a feature is intentionally the same across the board, development decisions are made for reasons more important than laziness, I would imagine. I don't see why a team of professionals with a vast amount of knowledge and tools and a multi-million dollar budget would spend years making an inferior product, but that's just as far as I can reason.

Well, the game is what it is. You are most certainly entitled to your complaints as there are a good many aspects of Skyrim I do not like. Having said this, if I were you, I wouldn't buy Oblivion, or any game from Steam, unless you absolutely have to do so, like the game is a Steam only game, just like Skyrim. You can still buy Oblivion as a hard copy and not have it be linked to Steam; that way, if you no longer want it, you can sell it off, whereas you cannot do that with a Steam game.

I also recommend getting Fallout 3 GOTY edition that isn't a Steam only game and it is only about $15-20 now.

This is true but at this point as some developers have already done it is not bad to make it for PC and go down saves them cash for next generation instead of making an entirely new engine on the fly and most likely will have major issues due to that.

But if your like me the only reason I bought Skyrim was for the CK and AAA dev giving out modding tools is getting less and less common but such is viewed by many people including myself that they are given out for the community to fix the game themselves.

As for you would you, Follow your own advice if such rule is enforced on this thread you as well as the OP will be punished the same because two wrongs do not make a right.
It's extremely hard to scale a game down, look at the problems with PS3 because it has a bit less memory than xbox360.
Now imagine if you designed it on an pc with 4GB ram.

It's a crock of [censored] because that was the first game to make me ask myself, "why is it that every 20 or so seconds I have to go OUT OF THE GAME to pull out a weapon or some device i've engineered?"
I suspect someone has already told you this, but on the PC there are eight hotkeys, just put something in your favorites menu and when you open it up hover your mouse over it and hit a key between one and eight. This will let you quickly switch between weapons, spells, shouts, powers, et cetera.

I read an article where HE of all people tried to tell US how the console is better for gaming(lol.) It's just mindboggling, I mean it's better to make money on console because a lot of people arn't in to the computer due to it's complexity but give me a break. It's stuff like this that is going to rally up newer designers with vendetta's(lol nerdy i know.)

Looking forward to discussing some other issues and thoughts.... Mainly I just want to know why the game is so limited in terms of keybindings on the PC? Also why do they KEEP porting these [censored] console versions to the PC? RAGE was a good game (i'm a huge Quake fan so i'm a little biased) but I mean just look at the hud for your weapon/device selections.... ONLY FOUR SLOTS? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, GEE I WONDER WHY? *coughconsolecontrollercough*
A constructive complaint about limited control options would have been fine, but console-bashing is not. I myself don't play on consoles and gamepads are my number one reason - and I too don't like how its limited controls of PC games. But railing on a specific platform is unconstructive, inflammatory, and inappropriate.

I mean Bethesda started off on the PC, now they buy out In Demand (id software) and turn John Carmack in to some console puppet?
Their name isn't In Demand. While there's a rumor that's what "id" stands for all official comment on this has stated it's a reference to id, ego, and superego. If it was an acronym it would also presumably be pronounced "eye dee," but it isn't.
