Fixing the combat skills in skyrim.

Destruction damage should be scaled. Re implement degradation and have upgrades degrade, needing the same upgrade material to fix. There's some "balance" (dreaded word).

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Seriously, so I should be punished for taking my time to get my enchanting to one hundred, no, just no, if someone wants to have their cost reduction at 100 percent, let tehm. 100 percent spell reduction is NOT an exploit, it is a choice, and the more choices the better, having a damage of 100 thousand on a sword is an exploit. Not cost reduction, get that thought out of your head. They will -never- get rid of the cost reduction. -ever-. end of story. If they did, they would have to modify EVERYONES game to remove armor that I spent a long time on to get to where its at. Implementing a cap for exploits is much different. FFS.

Relevance? This happens quite a lot in the game industry.

OP, I defiantly am in agreement with all of your points, especially Stamina cost for basic attacks... even if it's just 1-10 Stamina per attack. Playing as a Dual Wielder most fights seem like God of War where I'm just trying to tap R/L Triggers as fast as possible rather than anything that has any strategic merit.

Um... Word of Warcraft players say hi?

Um... Street Fighter players say hi?

Um... League of Legends players say hi?

Um... all game balance says hi?
This is a single player game, NOT an MMO, get that through your head.

No, because you can't fix what's not broken.

I don't know what glitches you are experiencing, but my combat is flawless. No broken mechanics at all. I kill things quite efficiently.
Adding improved weapons and armor to enemies in the leveled list sounds like an good idea, Would not unbalance the economy much as legendary items are not way more expensive than standard, would make smithing less important as you can find upgraded gear as you find potions and enchants.
However enemies already hit very hard at higher level, had an bandit kill me in one hit with an orchish bow. With his gear I would probably do under 80 damage so he has some sort of hidden bonus.

This is a single player game? No [censored], really?

I didn't realize balance went out the window if you only had one player.

Why do people always bring this up as an argument? They say it as though balance is irrelevant, when arguably, it may be even more important than in a multiplayer game since you are relying solely on yourself and whatever mechanics that entails.

A game, singleplayer or no does not exist within a vacuum.
In an multiplayer game, you fight other players or join raid groups to fight monsters.
Now if you do half damage you will get killed all the time in PvP and not be very welcome in raids.
In an single player game the effect is that it's very hard to play on master.

Not all the time. You can, in a lot of MMOs, solo a lot of the game. A raid monster is not going to be balanced the same way that some monster out in the west plain will be balanced.

Blocking costs stamina, no stamina -> no absorbing damage, no stamina -> no sprinting. BUT no stamina -> swinging of blade.

It will make the game more coherent, melee/archery should cost stamina, just as blocking and magic has costs.

Your kind of missing my point, not everyone can use the console, the majority of people playing skyrim aren't on PC.

I tested this last night. You are indeed correct that blocking does cost stamina. When I said I wasn't aware it did, I was being serious, I hadn't tested it out yet as I generally don't block

And the thing about melee not causing any stamina. It does relatively little damage compared to the power attack which does cost damage. I don't really see a need for it and I was actually glad it was removed as a mechanic.

And about the not having the option to use console. Again, this is a single player game. I can. What does you not having it have to do with me? It's not my problem that you knowingly bought a game which has notoriously relied on mods and console for continuous enjoyment. There's a reason they allow modding, they know they will never be able to appease everyone, so they give them the option to mod the game.

I think maybe Archery should cost stamina but perk it out so it doesn't after a Skill Level 30 point in the Archery tree.

However, back to my original point. The vast majority of people that play Skyrim play it as a melee character. The vast majority of people that play Skyrim are perfectly happy with their game. Only the few that come here and complain, like you, aren't.

Bethesda can't please everyone. They make a game that they think a majority (a majority is > 50%) of people that will buy the game and play it, will like. They have done that.

Edit: And wasn't your original argument having to deal with "balance" of playing on master? Just slide the difficulty down to expert. They designed it to where you can play it on whichever difficulty you want, and then, if it's too tough, slide it down, if it's too easy, slide it up. Heck, you can even do it in the middle of a fight. Just because YOU are having issues doesn't mean everyone else is. Me? I svck at master. I play the majority of my game on Expert. I've even slid it down to...adept? I can't remember the name of the one below Expert. But I have slid it down to there for a certain fight because I couldn't beat it. That's the point of the difficulty slider.

I've made a character that is basically a merchant that goes out and gets his own loot to sell. He's heavily perked into speechcraft. I have to play him on the middle one because he's not able to compete with someone who focuses on combat skills.

Because in a single player game you can adjust the difficulty. You can not in a multiplayer game. If it's too hard on the level you're using, slide it down. It's common sense.

That is only a bandaid in some cases, to make up for issues in the entirety of the gameplay mechanics...and that doesn't even work all of the time due to the relative difficulty of the game being all over the place.

You lost me with the word FIX. It's entirely subjective that anything is broken. Big turn off when you insult a game most people really like by using the word fix. Try again in the mods forum with focus on your features which make the game better or different with less focus on what Bethesda may have done wrong and you'll be met with some happy fans instead of a lynch mob.
If you read the comments I explained that it was a poor choice of words, I'm not trying to enforce these points, I'm just giving some ideas on how they could be improved and made more coherent. I think you miss the point of my topic.

And the thing about melee not causing any stamina. It does relatively little damage compared to the power attack which does cost damage. I don't really see a need for it and I was actually glad it was removed as a mechanic.
Power attacks do 2x damage, and you can use them with 1 stamina. I just feel that having a cost with every combat skill makes the game more coherent and realistic.

That is your opinion, I enjoy the vanilla game on xbox, which is easily the best option for me. Upgrading my pc would be a big waste of money, better things to spend it on, especially when my xbox plays it brilliantly in 1080p free of bugs (apart from magic resist that was fixed in 1.3).

I think you have missed the point completely, the use of the word fix was misleading to my intentions, as I've explained above. I'm not complaining here, only offering my ideas on how I would like the game to be improved. Where is the proof that over 50% play skyrim as a melee warrior?

Edit: And wasn't your original argument having to deal with "balance" of playing on master? Just slide the difficulty down to expert. They designed it to where you can play it on whichever difficulty you want, and then, if it's too tough, slide it down, if it's too easy, slide it up. No it wasn't, thats not my point at all. Most of the points will be an issue on any difficulty level, for example the destruction stagger perk is overpowered IMO, it should be reduced to 50% chance to stagger rather than 100%. You are affected by that on all difficulty levels, again you have missed the point.
