The Overpoweredness of Skyrim - You holding back?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:26 am

My level 40 warrior is still in Hide Armor. She does not wear a helm, has never enchanted anything, never used any spells, never activated any stones.

She has smithed herself a Daedric Greatsword but other than that she's a pretty gimped character. Combat is (on Adept) is easy. She recently defeated her first Elder Dragon with little difficulty.

Level 64 Dark Elf Vampire Sneak-
I am the will of the daedra in the flesh. I take what I want and hold nothing back.

I'm not leveling things like 2H, Heavy Armor, etc, so I'm starting to get pretty capped.

All four of my characters take enchanting, and two of them also use smithing. I'm at 299 hours this morning.

But for none of them, am I powerleveling any skill. Every so often, I do a little enchanting and smithing and then let it go for 4-5 (real life) days, before doing some more.

I want this game to last a while, and had read about smithing, enchanting, and alchemy early on, so I decided not to power level them.

I find that if you don't farm, grind, or overuse vendors (like traveling from town to town for mats, or waiting whatever amount of hours for them to restock, ect.), blacksmithing levels at a pretty reasonable rate with just "found" bars and ore, and looted leather.

Doing something similar with enchanting. I make sure to enchant any rings, necklaces, ect. that drops off of enemies before I sell them, but haven't put a dedicated effort into the professon. Still, already have it in the low 70s with no perks assigned.

I've been thinking the same in regards to the original post. I had a classic sword and board Warrior around level 40, and nothing really boasted a challenge anymore. Which is why I'm about to make my new character, (Imperial) Titus Aurelius - the same of kind of character, but on Master difficulty. I'm hoping to at least find the game a little more challenging.

My advice would be to start a new character.

I got a little bored with my mage conjurer once she reached lvl. 38 or so (I played her mostly on Adept, then bumped it up to Expert, but by then I was powerful enough that I didn't really notice a difference).

So I started a Melee character on Master. That was plenty challenging (particularly at lvl. 10-20), and rekindled my interest in the game. Once he gets too powerful, I'll probably create a third (and likely final) stealthy character to do any remaining quests.

How are you level 53 and still a 'classic warrior'? My Nord warrior uses Two Handed, Block, Heavy Armor, and took smithing to 50 to make steel plate. I finished the Companions and the Stormcloaks by level 23. I don't see him ever getting too far past level 30 or so. He just doesn't use that many skills. To level past 50 requires levelling up a LOT of skills. Sounds like a well levelled hybrid character to me, not a classic warrior. And hybrids can start out slow but eventually become extremely powerful.

I have Heavy armor, Block, One Handed, Two Handed, and Smithing maxed on 100. Archery is in the 60s and I of course have skills like speach and restoration (for healing) and lockpicking as they're basic skills in the world of Skyrim - at least for me. Lockpicking is at like 90 something because of the skeleton key. Light armor is in the 50s. It takes me a very long time to level because im always in my heavy armor bashing things up just doing the skills I've already mastered. Now that I typed up all my leveled skills, I suppose I am a bit of a hybrid. :geek:

How do I delete a duplicated comment? Or is it just stuck there?
