The Lord's Prayer.........in Dragon

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:16 pm

So I was bored a bit ago and I didn't want to do anything productive with my time so I decided to learn about the dragon language a little bit more. I also remembered that when Western nations learned new languages, the first thing they would translate would be the Lord's Prayer, so I thought I might as well translate it into dragon. With the currently very limited vocabulary that Bethsesda has released, I had to make due, changing around a few phrases or so. This is what I have so far. Note that I use Sovangarde in place of Heaven, I just thought it fit.

Un Bromah,
Wo los ko Sovangarde
Revak kos hin dun
Hin lein do meyz
Hin fen kos aan zind,
Au gol ol med ko Sovangarde
Ofan mu joor muz un nir do fin sul
Ahrk ofan mu joor muz aaz fah un vokulle
Os mu ofan aaz wah muz wo dreh vokul
Ahrk drun mu joor muz ni kotin vokul,
Nuz drun mu joor muz nol faal vulom

Word by word translation:
Our Father
Who is in Sovangard (Heaven)
Sacred be your grace
Your world of come (Yes, I'm aware this line sounds particulary awkward)
Your will be a triumph,
On earth like in Sovangarde (Heaven)
Give we mortal men our hunt of the day
And give we mortal men mercy for our evils
As we give mercy to men who do evil
And bring we mortal men not into evil,
But bring us mortal men from the darkness

As you can tell, some of this can sounds pretty awkward and I made a few assumpitions when I used verbs interchangebly with nouns. Feel free to try your own interpretations and to edit mine. This could be some sort of prayer to Akatosh or Talos.

I like what you have done.

I like that this even occurred to you; you have an interesting head. I included that last, awkward statement in recognition of your bizarre [censored] sentence; otherwise, I'm dead butch!

...anyway: Cool endeavor.

An English-to-TES Dragon Language converter NEEDS to happen!

Then we can complain about Skyrim like true believers! :{D~

Cool! I don't think I would've had the patience to figure all that out.

First line should probably be "Akatosh". ;)

Nice read, but I'm not sure how the mods would react, seeing as religious discussion isn't allowed on the forums...

I think that's a theme park in the San Fernando Valley.

Wow, that is a good find!

Congratulations!

Seems like that should go on the Easter Egg page of the wiki. If the translation could be confirmed.
