I will just save where ever i am in the world and quit. I never save during a fight or when i am inside a dungeon/cave though.

He doesn't even realize I've left. I spend 2 days away and come back, and its like he blinked.

I try to be in one of my houses when I log off or an Inn or at least somewhere "safe" . My favorite thing to do is unload ingredients and books, sort what I might wanna sell, smithing items ( and yep everything has it's own storage container) Sit down in a chair faceing a bookcase, log off... she's reading.

I try to get to an Inn (my current character doesn't have a house yet) or my bed in the Thieves Guild. I like to have something to eat, read a book and then go to sleep.

I like to get to a town, clear out my inventory, restock what I need for my travels, and find a quiet spot before I quit. A fresh start is always nice when you load up an existing save game. That's not always as easily done as i'd like, so it doesn't happen every time. Either way, the world pauses and allows me to pick up where I left off. Since it's not a world that persists when i'm gone, I try not to worry about it that much.

This.

Ra'vhash just sits down wherever I have left him and proceeds to read a number of the many books I keep in his bags until I return. (Which is usually within a few hours tops.)

The last thing I do at the end of the day, is to sell all my stuff, put whatever I need to put in the chest, and then save the game in my home in Whiterun, standing by the foot of my bed.

All 4 of my characters (and Lydia) are in the same place.

Did the same in WoW for 5 years - always the same place for all characters lol.

I like my character to be at home or in one of the inns when I log off, preferably after selling and storing her stuff.

I save wherever I happen to be when I'm done playing, but I always pan the camera around to face my character (and companion) before doing so.

My characters realize everything is just imagination, a dream, and they zero-sum out of existence to an orchestra of accordions. The world outside turns, I find some spare time, and the characters come back to life; they seem the same, feel the same, but the godhead intentions behind them are refreshed and excited. They aren't the same electrons they were yesterday.

really tho, I just let them chill in Whiterun. Or a bandit camp.
