What is the deal with the space between arrow quivers and yo

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 12:37 am

The quiver is bound to the same bone, regardless, so if one has a gap, they all have the game. And vice versa. The only thing that can change this is if you move the bone or adjust the models individually to fill the gap.

Moot point and irrelevant to anything.

As said, the gap was intentional. Fix implies something was wrong, which nothing is, as, again, it was intentional.

Helmets are set to remove the hair mesh, or the whole head all together, depending on the helmet, to avoid these clipping issues. If you have hair clipping through, then that is a different issue.

Exaggerated. Be realistic.

Well, now. Don't YOU just have the "wise blood", eh?

My point was not moot at all.

I wanted to let everyone know that I am on the 360, as advance information, to let everyone know that I cannot use mods to fix the gap, before, just in case anyone recommended one if it existed to fix the gap. PERFECTLY RELEVANT TO THIS SUBJECT.

Also, I wasn't exaggerating at all. The gap is extremely noticeable, and noteworthy.

I never noticed this until you posted this, and I specifically went to look for it. Though it may be because when I do use third person view, which isnt often, I dont see why you would rotate the camera 90 degrees for a side view. And if that gap is 12 inches, then I estimate my character is somewhere around 500 feet tall.

Just run sideways to dodge an arrow while wearing elven armor and having elven arrows equipped.

Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner.

Clipping is the reason why it is so hard to mod clothing and armor for these games. I remember when someone tried to make a cape that moved with the character. They spent months trying to make it look right and not have body parts appear and disappear as they walked.

Could the quiver be tweaked to be closer to the body? Perhaps, but would it look right with all the various armors and clothing that is available to the character in the game?
So is http://static.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/932470-1327006556.gif an unavoidable clipping issue as well?

Bethesda seems overlook a lot of things (or simply ignore them.. hard to tell). There had to have been a way for them to make it appear closer and avoid any clipping issues. They just didn't want to do it that way is all. No need to make excuses.

The quiver space seems to be about avoiding clipping complications. Which tells me that Bethesda either need to look more into model physics
by the time the next consoles are out fresh or invest in a new engine. Either way, it's an oddity to be looked at, but at times but can be ignored.

whoa the small/big armor is so different..

also come on.. they're a team of 100+ professionals. I'm sure they did the best they could in the amount of time they had.

I'm sure they did, but when it comes time for the release of Fallout 4 and there are still issues present in Skyrim, what will be their excuse? Cause Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 certainly aren't free of issues either.

The space is for tiny spiders, how else do you think the quiver is attached? Straps? Don't think so. Don't see any.

if u use a twohanded weapon it fills the gap nicly. now why the game couldnt tell if u had a one hander or two hander out im not sure but it cant apperently... it annoys be we carry are sheild and cant put that on your back and when you duel weild one weapon vanishes which is a bit disapointing if your trying to characterise your pc with duel weilding.

I don't think there will be an excuse. The reality will be, they were developing new tools after Skyrims release for their next title, in addition to creating a convincing, super expansive world, worrying about hiring voice actors, recording/studio time, concept art/world design, bug testing, implementing new game mechanics/tearing out old ones/changing old ones and either through lack of testing, or not caring because they still had a lot to do, a rock or 2 will be floating above the ground, and their outfits/weapons might clip on occasion..
