What is the deal with the space between arrow quivers and yo

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:12 am

Once again, something that occurred in Oblivion, which I don't understand why it wasn't fixed.

Question.

DOES THIS HAVE SOMETHING TO DO... With your weight? As in, if you are super buff, the body mass will fill in the gap?

Or does that not make a difference?

Does it just depend on other things?

God. So annoying.

Nah, it's just a thing. Big/small doesn't matter.
I always find it weird and action figure-y.

I don't get that on any of my characters, one of which has the weight all the way down.

I have that problem only if the arrow quiver is equiped as soon as a bow or my axe are also equiped the space is filled.

Looks funky though..

Its done that way on purpose to avoid clipping.

If you're on PC, http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5711 works pretty well for me.

Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner.

Clipping is the reason why it is so hard to mod clothing and armor for these games. I remember when someone tried to make a cape that moved with the character. They spent months trying to make it look right and not have body parts appear and disappear as they walked.

Could the quiver be tweaked to be closer to the body? Perhaps, but would it look right with all the various armors and clothing that is available to the character in the game?

I don't think I've ever noticed arrows appearing to float behind my body, but there's always a noticable space between my body and sheathed swords, etc.

I find it more annoying when half of my two-handed weapon appears to either be running underneath my armor or deep enough to be substituted for his/her spine. Makes a real mess when they pull it out...

Not quite 3 dings. Maybe 2 at best. Not all quivers do this. I know that the iron arrows, and steel arrows do not when I have clothing on, or iron armor.

I think it depends on what type of armor you are wearing, and other things perhaps.

I am on 360, and I do not have access to mods. I also would not use mods even if I could.

Well, maybe just to mess around and make some outlandishly silly, or cool gear.

I feel it is pathetic is have to use 3rd party mods JUST to fix clipping and thing wrong with this game.

It is sad that the game cannot so much as keep hair from clipping out of the sides of helmets (right through the metal)

And ridiculous things like arrow quivers floating in mid air with a 12 inch space between the quiver and your back.

The game shouldn't already have that sh*t.

Definitely dependent on the apparel you have equipped. When in dwarven armour the gap was noticeable, when in a belted tunic there was no gap whatsoever. Now if there had been no gap when wearing the armour, it's likely that the quiver would have been half embedded in my back when wearing the tunic... clippings a nightmare!

It worked fine for me but clipped quite a bit if you had a two hander on your back or Orcish armor on the males.

Kind of unrelated, but does your quiver change when you equip different arrows

No

But speaking of arrows does anyone else reverse pickpocket daedric arrows onto practicing archers then take the regular ones from them when they sleep?

I'd like to see a mod where the quiver was attached to the armor somehow, eg. a belt etc...

The quiver is bound to the same bone, regardless, so if one has a gap, they all have the game. And vice versa. The only thing that can change this is if you move the bone or adjust the models individually to fill the gap.

I am on 360, and I do not have access to mods. I also would not use mods even if I could.
Moot point and irrelevant to anything.

I feel it is pathetic is have to use 3rd party mods JUST to fix clipping and thing wrong with this game.
As said, the gap was intentional. Fix implies something was wrong, which nothing is, as, again, it was intentional.

It is sad that the game cannot so much as keep hair from clipping out of the sides of helmets (right through the metal)
Helmets are set to remove the hair mesh, or the whole head all together, depending on the helmet, to avoid these clipping issues. If you have hair clipping through, then that is a different issue.

And ridiculous things like arrow quivers floating in mid air with a 12 inch space between the quiver and your back.
Exaggerated. Be realistic.

They are probably have a fixed position that far out to allow for the most bulky armor set.

People... you are complaining about floating quivers while your characters hauls around at least one extra set of armour, the whole weapon collection of Tamriel and a few kilogramms worth of ingredients with not even a ragged sack to his name? Floating arrows are the least of my worries till I can't equip at least a few leather pouches on my belt for herbs and a backpack or burlap sack for the equipment, food and quest items. I know, I know. I can just imagine it's there. But then we can all imagine the quivers just don't float.

I've never noticed the quiver floating, though battleaxes seem to do it alot for me.

And every bow I've ever seen clips into quivers when sheathed, even if its the matching set.
