How do I make this game fun again?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 5:33 am

Can always give yourself goals. Make it your mission to discover all the bugs in a jar. Try to make one of every type of potion and decorate your house with them. Have a complete weapon set of each type. Explore all the houses in all the holds. Kill every killable npc in the game. Etc Etc.

^this^

I love that potion idea. I'm going to do that. And the weapons set thing. Great ideas.

I get the "itch" to play Skyrim, but then when I start playing, I don't really want to play anymore, or the "itch" is gone.

I get the itch to play, and am also bored when i play simply because I would like the patch to fix a few things so I can get back to it without things not working properly. I haven;t played for about 2 weeks, and once there's some fixes, ill be back to do some more. Also depends on the day. Having ADD doesn't always help either. Skyrim may never be exciting for you anymore. That's life. I won't deny I have gotten bored with games when a few years prior I wouldn't have. The game is what it is, out of frustration and boredom one time i killed everyone I could in the world. My personal opinion, the story is a lil lacking in depth which is why I think don't enjoy it as much as I would. You are not alone in this feeling, and if you have to try hard to make it enjoyable, it's probably not worth it.

If I get a little bored I either play something else or do this:
#1 create a new character and select 6 skills that I will only use for new character
#2 Create a few house rules that I will follow to make new character unique.
#3 Find a companion I've never used before
#4 Follow every lead/ or don't

1. Take a break. There's always something else to play.

2. Do a character type you haven't done before. If your normally melee, try magic, or stealth centered characters. If your normally a goody two shoes, try being the polar opposite instead.

3. Don't be singuarlly focused on finishing a quest. It's easy to get on the "Must finish this quest" train, finish the quest, and then start working on the next one. Instead, allow yourself to wander. If going from Point A to point B, and you find something in between - explore it. You don't have to finish the quest right away.

4. Avoid the use of fast travel if possible. Granted it sounds like RPG purist BS, but I find it really makes a difference. You'll explore and wander more, which helps with not being singuarly focused.

5. Ditch the horse. They're expensive to replace, they get in the way, take too long to dismount to fight stuff as your exploring, and tend to be Mob magnets.

6. Make your own mission by finding an object of disgust or hatred and pursue its destruction. Personally, i find i hate Thalmore and Vampirees. So I actively seek them out.

7. Mods. If your on a console, your just SOL on this one.

Take off all your clothes, strip yourself of all weapons and magical artifacts, and streak from Riften to Solitude.

That is pretty darn funny...And yell Frank the Tank all the way there...

Try to do a playthrough without glitching a single quest.

I would start a new character and play on master difficulty with no fast traveling. That's what I'm doing right now and it makes the game more fun.

Plus I'm playing FO3.

It feels like I just can't sit down and play this game anymore. I get bored too fast and I only last maybe 30 minutes before I stop playing. Are there any good ways to spice up the game a bit?

Yes, go play WOW

Put a party hat on your head and tie some balloons onto your tv or monitor.
