Widescreen.
Last I went looking, no one makes 4:3 aspect ratio monitors or Televisions any more.

Make sure you didn't change the ratio (should be 16:10).
Depends on the monitor; (mine is 16:9 @ 1920x1080 where as if it were 16:10 and 1080 height, the width would be 1723).

Widescreen isn't "normal"? Or do you mean http://static.someecards.com/someecards/images/feed_assets/4dc1681892af8.jpg kind of normal?

*cough* I'm uh, using a slightly more exotic one myself :wink:

/or I would, if Beth would stop wrecking the 3rd party patches that fix their bastard of a new GUI vs what used to work with all their other games *shakes tiny fist*
//or if they'd just fix it so that the GUI is remotely aware that 3x horizontal does not automatically equal 3x the vertical that'd be even more swell, you know like how it works with all their other games

I am with you mate, thank god for the widescreen fix and how come there was never a problem up until Skyrim?

I like the standard size. I use 1920x1200. I always felt that the wide screen aspect ratio was gipping me of screen real estate.

I am on a 22' wide screen playing on 1680x1050 res. Also I edit the display in Skyrim.ini setting to make it stick. If you do it through console, 'fov 80' the you switch first to third and first again the game game resets the Field Of View. fDefault1stPersonFOV=80
fDefaultWorldFOV=80
FDefaultFOV=80

1920x1200 (16:10) here on a 24" IPS monitor.

I really couldn't go back to a 4:3 or a 5:4 monitor. 16:10 (and 16:9) add a lot to immersion for me. It adds peripheral vision and you see a lot more scenery.

I play on a 30" monitor, at 2560x1600 resolution. Skyrim is breathtakingly beautiful.

widescreen is great. being able to see more to the sides is better than to view more at the top/bottom, since there are only sky and soil anyway. :D

Im playing in non standard 1280x768. There was no visual distortion between that and 1280x720. Which very positively surprised me. So i guess any resolution will work correctly in Skyrim. Good job Bethesda. :up:

Right now it's Xbox and a 42" 720 plasma.

In 4 weeks it will be an i7/GTX 570 on a 47" 1080p LCD 120hz
Dont think these exist, these "120hz" are most probably a fake effect. Often found on TV's.

I'd have to say widescreen is the norm these days.

22" 1680x1050 widescreen. Wished I'd had popped for a 1920x1200 24" when I bought this in 2008 - I wouldn't be shopping for one right now. Moral of the story, get one size larger than you think you're going to like/need.

Ha. there are more 1280x1024 LCD (5:4!) than stars in the universe. :D Look at steam survey, its the second widespread resolution on steam currently. Who the hell invented those things....

22" monitor @ 1680x1050, in 3D.

Still pushing protons through a vacuum to hit a phosphorous screen? That svcks. :(

Er, pretty sure its electrons. A proton beam would be a bit... messy.

After I switched from a big old heavy 4:3 CRT monitor to a new light 16:9 1080p widescreen few years ago there was no going back. CRT is so old tech these days.

I am on a 22' wide screen playing on 1680x1050 res. Also I edit the display in Skyrim.ini setting to make it stick. If you do it through console, 'fov 80' the you switch first to third and first again the game game resets the Field Of View.

fDefault1stPersonFOV=80
fDefaultWorldFOV=80
FDefaultFOV=80

I use the same FOV settings with 23' 1920x1080 (1080p) LCD.

I just have a keyboard in front of me, coupled with my imagination.

Impressive!
