Do You Think We'll See More Patches or Just Addons?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 2:15 am

Patches will keep on being released every few montghs I'd imagine.

DLC is different. I'd expect a couple of expansions for this one.

Console owners did their choice themselves.

Not every player will bother with CK but a http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 will bother with unofficial patches.
Those numbers are after the game was out for 6 years, after 6 years, RIGHT now, there are over 5 times the amount of people on console, than on PC. Console players are the majority, deal with it.

Yeah only http://www.vg247.com/2011/12/16/skyrim-ships-10-million-units-worldwide-sets-steam-record/

If Bethesda is right, and you'd think they would be considering it's their game then PC outranks consoles 3 to 1...

During November, you missed that tidbit there. Since then it has sky rocketed on the console. Not to mention the numbers sold on console during christmas. And FYI, that number for november, was only for the US.

Latest known figures show 10 million copies sold more then half of which are on PC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_V:_Skyrim#Sales and http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-12-16-valve-skyrim-fastest-selling-game-in-steam-history

If you have any figures that dispute that, please post them instead of just saying it does.

With the release of the CK I am not sure how much more it will be patched.

Yep, we've got our cash let someone else fix it :swear:

Judging by the more recent games (Fallout 3 & NV), each DLC will have a patch right before it, if only to prepare the game for that DLC. But there should be fixes (and new errors ) in those patches, too. And then, of course, the follow-up patch to fix the things the DLC broke.

Not even close.

http://www.gamesas.com/eng/patches.php

Both with or without Shivering Isles.

Yeah they never fixed the Blackheart's Ring quest so if you looted the body before your companion told you to it would basically screw up your whole guild quest and you could never be the leader of the guild. It really made me mad that they never fixed that on Oblivion. Such an obvious one they needed to fix.

So a "perfect" polished static game is better then allowing the player community to expand the game to fit their perception of what the game should be? I don't see Bethesda packing up the tent and leaving in the middle of the night, they are supporting the game as their own schedule allows them too.

As to the console issue. Code is code it is not Bethesda fault that the manufacturers of the platform you chose to buy and play on aren't going to allow you to take advantage of what the player community creates. It is your choice on what system you play on so live with that choice.

well smarty i don't play on a console but lets look at the trend. The unofficial morrowind patch, the unofficial oblivion patch, see the trend? I suspect that before to long we'll have an unofficial skyrim patch to fix the things they didn't "have time for." Those patches developed by the community weren't cheats, thus the point i was making about leaving the community to fix their game went straight over your head.

No it did not go over my head, I fully understand what you where saying. I don't agree with your stance that Bethesda had this huge master plan to make a "subpar" unpolished game to sell to the public so they could rook them out of their hard earned money. They simply made the best game they could in the time that was alotted them, which my 330 hours of plays tells me they did a dam good job on. In addition they made a construction tool to allow the community to further expand the universe as well as strengthen the coding foundation.

As to cheats I never mentioned anything about cheats and quite honestly I don't believe in "cheats" in the elder scroll universe.

The FO3 pattern was a one-to-one relation of patches to DLCs, where the patches were an undocumented mashup of whatever anyone had done to the code in the intervening period between DLCs. Their processes seem to have matured since then, since they seem to have a system of prioritizing bugs, detailing what's changed, and providing a beta period.

There is at least one more patch to come. Don't worry. Their focus was on performance and stability for this one.
