Do You Think We'll See More Patches or Just Addons?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:50 am

I was wondering, do yall think Bethesda will be making more patches after the one coming out next week? I know they said their getting straight to developing addons... but does that mean no more bug fixes???

There will always be patches, im sure they just mean they will be FOCuSING on add ons, and not all their effort towards patches now.

I think it depends on what is fixed and what is not fixed if game breaking bugs such as main/guild quests being incompletable, framerate and freezes (especially on ps3) and other gamebreaking bugs and glitches not being fixed i think there will be another patch

Well considering the amount of problems still occurring with oblivion, this is not a surprise....

I'm just glad that Bethesda is putting more into the dlc's. They said that they won't be releasing dlc's as frequently as before because they will be more detailed and substantial.

Bethesda will probably do one or two more patches after this next one, and that's it. It's what they do with every game. Heck, most don't even get 4 patches.

Well, there will be (or should be) some patch support even after the DLC's are released.

Both the base game and the DLC's themselves should continue to be refined until they're ready to move on to the full production of TES VI

The last patch for Oblivion was exceptionally late, and only because there emerged a serious bug that affected games with an extended playing time. If I remember correctly, the issue was roughly, that ID codes given to loose/individual/separate items created into the world were not properly released when the items were picked up, and the game eventually ran out of available codes for new items, creating some issues when ffffffff was reached, or something along those lines.

My guess is, that the last patch for Skyrim without a DLC could be some time in March at the latest.

After that, if a DLC requires new funtionalities from the engine, then the engine will be patched accordingly, when the DLC is released (this happened with both Morrowind and Oblivion).

I hope there is more patches to fix enemies respawning outside of dungeons and it needs to fix alchemy ingredients respawning. Also the weapons and arrows need to be cleaned from the world, I hope 1.4 addresses the ash piles not cleaning up properly. Let's not forget the exploding item bug that makes it impossible to decorate your house. Then there are the quest bugs. This is probably the most bugged game I have ever played and I certainly hope there is more patches to come.

I hope it fixes it properly, there are some reports in the beta testing thread that it has not been fixed, a few people have said it.

I also hope the stacking nirnroot glows get fixed. They aren't in the patch notes, but they cause problems.

CK is irrelevant for consoles. There will definitely be more patches for those at least. And I'm sure the PC version will get them as well. Not every PC player will bother with the CK I'm sure.

Console owners did their choice themselves.

Not every player will bother with CK but a http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296 will bother with unofficial patches.

If you look at the known bugs threads here, the short 1.4 patch contents, and take into account that Skyrim is going to rake in mega bucks for the next two years at least - there WILL be more patches.
