Ingame lore info

So someone manages to conveniently drop a book at every site of interest, giving the history and other information about location "Whatever"? That wouldn't work for me. I'd be spending too much time wondering who is roaming around, dropping books everywhere.

I'd stick with reading the books I find in the bookshelves and other places, whenever that might be. I still prefer the Imperial Library, if I want to do a lot of reading.

I suppose it could work if if they were in the guise of a diary or something. But some caves already have that. And lets face it, most caves are just caves...

not every cave needs a story. If there are evil things in there then perhaps they just like cold dark places. It doesn't take a book to explain why you find draugr in every landhole there is. It's not like your going to have a book that explains why cave bears like to eat everything that comes walking by. I love the lore but not everything has or needs a story. Even some mines would probably have a very lame story like, man found a silver vein, man mined the vein, vein was depleted, man moved to town. The story of the mine and the vein are really nothing compared to the story of the man who did the mining. And that's a whole different story altogether, and it's a bad example for me to use because there are plenty of journals throughout Skyrim.

I don't think Bethesda wants a hard canonical encyclopedia of lore. If they kept such information basic this tool wouldn't be terribly useful, and if it let you see pertinent books on the matter it would defeat the purpose of finding those books on your own.

A better means to organize books you own could be interesting, and if it was tied to bookshelves or something it would give home-ownership another perk. For example, perhaps it would let you see books by author or category.
