I miss no one getting angry at me for fouling up...

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 7:00 am

Earlier today i was exploring the lands south of dawnstar when i stumbled upon a stormcloak camp.

I haven't involved myself in the civil war questline at all so thought i'd head in to see if they had anyhing decent to buy.

Went into one tent and the fairly important lookng soldier in there says "i'm going to kill the next imperial i see" ( or something similair). Well I am an imperial and he didn't raise a fist. Hopeless!

You guys are so right.
Although I enjoy playing Skyrim, I still think Oblivion was much better for dialogue and meaning. I actually thought the graphics were better in Oblivion too. Everything is just brown in Skyrim. Nothing very colorful. Caves are repetitive too. All the inns are pretty much the same building.
Sometimes less is more!!!
Sorry, but distant LOD in Oblivion was horrific.

Caves were terribly repetitive and generic on Oblivion, and the inns were the same building too.

I'm sure none of you fouled up in the Blood on the Ice quest. Wuunferth the Unliving gives you a right scolding.

what I don't get is WHY is this not present in Skyrim? I mean...did FO3 and FONV(not beth made) not happen? what happend to the consequence?? Tenpenny tower? the Choices along questline, Saving your pops from "susie" etc etc?? I mean yeah their dialog svcked in some cases "i am looking for a middle aged man" but stuff happened based on what you did.....Just what the hell happend?

I miss those cause and effect things in Morrowind. It just added tension and consequences to your quest. For this to work we definitely need faction reputation and reputation. I have no idea why these was removed, wait they did not want this game to be spreadsheety so they gutted it. What a joke.

I don't know what you're talking about as guards always make comments about things i've done or are part of. It's actually annoying when they comment on things they shouldn't know about like my stealing...i've never been noticed stealing yet somehow the psychic guards mention warnings about my thievery

the lack of disposition on NPCs effectively turns them into cardboard cutouts.. they just feel like a recorded message, no character but the scripted message they are there to give out.. might as well be sign posts..

Morrowind wasn't perfect, but Skyrim is a shadow of Morrowind in its depth.

The war quests sadden me too. You don't have to participate at all to complete them.

I tried to fail the defense of whiterun once. They took down the barricade and lowered the drawbridge...and then a giant wave of imperials start flooding out of the city gates and murder all the stormcloaks off.

Every single fort battle can be won by you sitting back while the troops fight and the leader of either side commends/promotes you for it.

Some people don't like failure or consequences, so they got rid of them.

people don`t really care who you are and aren`t afraid to put you down verbally.

Vekel the man and Direge does that all the time to their new guild master.

Half the kids in the game aren`t afraid to put you down verbally. Immortal bastards.

Ok. I admit those above are just cheap shots. If you do the DB quests, the people close to those targets will have special greeting dialogs for you, but no more than that. Same if you take sides in the war, certain people will be angry at you.

As for colour the world is much mote realistly coloured imo
Where did this idea that realistic = dull come from? The world is very colorful and bright.

The way the game is set up, they want you to be able to do everything in one playthrough. You basically, can't really fail most things even if you tried.

Over half those images have had extra saturation or post-processing done to them...

While I will agree that the real world is a bit more vibrant than Skyrim, it is nowhere near as vibrant as some of those images.

Also, you can add more vibrant color and color correction to Skyrim via mods and/or ini tweaks and/or adjusting your graphic cards rendering settings. (I chose to do the latter two).

In order to make this game more vibrant, this is what I did (Xbox 360 ver.). Turn brightness in the Skyrim display settings menu, all the way up. Turn the color on your monitor/Tv up to about 70 or equivalent (mine is Sony Bravia) . The raised color darkens the spots that are made too bright by the Skyrim settings and make the colors pop out and the details of textures much more visible and lifelike. Try and let me know what you guys think.

Is'nt that required for the Xbox version?

The only really vibrant thing I ever saw was a Kingfisher, wow that thing stood out like crazy. I can`t imagine why nature would make it stand out so. Dragonflys and insects are very vibrant in colour too. But in reality world colours (such as the Earth) are not that bright at all and Skyrim is actually closer to reality.

They set the skill comment threshold way too low. Oblivion had it at a reasonable 70, yet in Skyrim it's at 30.
