Is Console gaming THIS left out? Thread 2

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 7:35 pm

Yup, the first 2 was on pc and the next 3 on both pc and Xbox.

Bethesda has been trying to get both ms and Sony to open up their markets for mods. To this day they still refuse. What they don't realise is that (in my opinion) it could generate money as most of us(?) would pay a small sum for some of the mods.

The idea of user made mods is that they're free. The official name of additional content you pay for and download is DLC. A good idea for Bethesda would be, I think, porting the best mods for Skyrim from pc to console and creating some kind of "mod pack", which will be available for a moderate sum of $5 as DLC.

It's a security thing... Modders could design rather.... malicious... mods that could wreck havoc on the multitudes of unsuspecting console gamers who expect everything to just work....

They can (and have) done the same to PC gamers... but PC gamers tend to have a bit more knowhow (on avg) as well as already accepting responsibility for their machine (consoles are plug and play, no hassle, EVER, systems)

Indeed. But what if ms and Sony got to go through the mod before release?
They could check, test, taste, do whatever they wanted to before allowing it to go live

OP, can you live your gaming life without mods for Skyrim?

Answer that question and you will have the answer to whether or not you should move to PC.

I predict this thread will end in virtual blood-shed on account of platform warring.

Oh it will if you act the way you did in the last thread.

I'm not sure.. D: I don't think I can play Skyrim without mods (until DLC) anymore. Skyrim Online and the rest of them are so.... awesome looking.

O.o

I'm not seeing any platform war here.

Well what do you expect from a box that is a dedicated gaming machine? it's like buying a toaster and then wanting it to make coffee. PC's can game but spec for spec a console beats a PC because of it's nature.

I am

This is one of those highly underplayed advantages of console.

Consoles, all being EXACTLY the same and all being dedicated for nothing but gaming are FAR more efficient gHz for gHz than PC's. What I mean is that devs can REALLY maximize the consoles capabilities, while PC's infinite variables makes that a tad harder. The overlaying OS is FAR more demanding. Looks at the games we have on XBOX and find me a game that looks ANYWHERE CLOSE to as good on PC that has the xbox specs as it's Max settings specs.

What you'll find are games that look like first year xbox release titles.

That said... PC's have so much more power avail to them it's ludicrous.

And, then you post this. This is what I am talking about when I say platform wars.
